Hearing Voices Before I Sleep

First I would like to introduce myself. My name is Irma, and I am 14 years old. I'm not sure if psychic ability runs in my family, but I have experienced something that really scares me, and I can't ask anyone about it. Everything started a few months ago. There was a night when everyone in the house fell asleep, and I was the only one awake. I'm the type of girl who gets scared easily which made me leave my blanket over my head.

After a while, I began hearing people whispering. I got off my bed to take a look, and I saw a strange shadow pass right by me. I got afraid, and tried to go back to sleep. In the morning I just thought of everything as a dream.

But then, it started getting worse. Instead of hearing whispers, I actually heard someone talking, as if to me. It really scared me, and I really don't know what to do. Last night, I heard a girl's voice saying, "Hello? Excuse me..." It seemed friendly, but I'm too afraid to answer back. If I did answer back, would I have gotten an answer? Would something had happened to me?

I really want to answer back, and try to figure out, if they are trying to talk to me. I really need advice, please help if you can.

Thank you so much :)

hi irmaa... I am 14 years old too and I get to have kindaa the same experience every night... Its been some months since I realised that when I go to bed and I don't think of anything, I listen to some people talking... And talking very quickly. At first I didn't pay any attention to this thing that used to happen. But these days things are getting worse. Every night its easier for me to listen to what they say and I don't have to concentrate too much to catch everything they say and I can also tell the difference between the voices that speak... Sometimes I feel like hearing my best friend or mum or sister... I have never heard my name though and that's good I think because I'm sure if that happens I will freak out... Sometimes I burst into laughters with what I hear:p I remember a man had once said "did you get the milk?" or something like thatt... Haha so crazy! Yesterday I asked my best friend if she hears voices too before she sleeps butt I think she thinks I have a mental disability...pff. Sometimes I think I listen to what they are thinking because I hear only one word or two and not a whole sentence so I know its not a conversation... I'm trying now to listen to these things when I am surrounded by noise and people but its almost impossiblee! I get carried away all the time...
Anyway I like the fact that sth happens to me that doesn't happen to everyone. I feel special:$and I like itt;) its interesting hahah^^

Oh and sorry for any mistakes... I'm from Greece... 😆 🤔 ❤

I had a similar experience not just ten minutes ago, and its about 5:15am right now. I was lying in bed trying to pass out, and was just about to, when out of nowhere there was either a dim flash or glow just out of my direct line of sight. (Blanket was blocking view of most of the room.) My body froze up, and there was a high pitch/frequency ringing in my head, and I started to hear several voices. A few sounded to be small female or children, and the rest sounded male. Couldn't make out what was being said, or their tone of voice. It took a great deal of effort to move my arm an inch, and a great deal more to move it again and to get off the bed. My bedroom door is rattling, and has been since 20 minutes before this happened. (there is no draft, and no windows or other doors open.) I have no clue what this was, or even how or why it happened.

I don't know why we hear voices before or when we wake up. One time I was just lying on my bed after I had already woken up the first time and heard a loud voice that popped my eardrums in a different language. I don't know if it was good or bad but it scared me, I started praying and it went away and I felt the holy spirit. Recently a voice actually woke me up from sleeping and it was whispering in English... It was telling me jesus and god aren't real. I don't know why it would waste it's time since I'm a believer but it may have been talking to my boyfriend next to me and I overheard it. I wouldn't mess with the voices... You always take a chance of opening the door to evil.

well, it happens to me about four times a week, and nothing has happened to me...yet! No, no, I'm kidding. I answer back to them sometimes, but mostly, they just talk amongst themselves about businesses that I don't understand, so I just listen. Then they'll say like, "OK, OK, let's let her go to sleep guys, good night sweetheart, you have a good sleep. We'll see you tomorrow," or some other friendly goodbye. They mostly stop talking at about 3 in the morning. But, weirdly, it is very very helpful when they talk, because it helps me get good sleep. So, unless they are rude or you think they are up to no good, I don't really mind them. But never do anything they tell you to do that sounds like they are taunting you. I've seen shadows from the corner of my eye in my room too. But, IDK, I'm used to all of these weird things. I'v been... Different since I was born, so I don't really find it extremely weird. Then again, I don't think I'm stable. Oh God, leave me alone, I have problems. Lol.

Elowin - I've only had the louder voice, usually it's quieter, a few times. Twice when asleep and had prowlers. "Wake up!" Once when driving and about to doze, "Wake up!" and once when I pulled up to my house and found my hub and kids not home. He had talked about taking them for ice cream, but I felt funky, like something was wrong. Thought of my daughter and got worried. Then he/she said, "Sometimes people have to experience pain to grow..." I said, Ok. Went in the house and got a phone call from the hubby from the emergency that my daughter was hurt. I heard it once more, I think, dazed, after a doc in the emergency room told us after a car wreck that my youngest son might loose his foot. I heard, loud, or at least softly, "He won't. Don't panic and stay awake..." I stayed awake about 72 hours with my hand on or near him to keep contact. He got well quickly. Usually the softer voice is loud enough, but not when we really need to get volted or awake maybe.

I've heard the voice forever. It was seeing the person (people) and talking to them that freaked me. I never thought talking was a biggie. Ouch - I argue. Then when I do what I want to anyway and get my purse snatched, I fuss. I suppose, part of me always wanted to think it was my grand imagination. That seems simple. But, after years, I have come to the conclusion that it is not just imagination. I'm a pretty logical person.

I've been having weird experiences piling up on me one after the other lately. About a week ago I was sort of meditating but mostly mentally complaining that I was never sure if my thoughts were mine or if they were my spirit guides talking to me. I thought, "I wish they could talk to me in a regular voice!" Right then I heard a man's voice say something in my right ear, like he was right next to me.

I was so shocked I didn't register what had been said, but the funny thing was my first though was, "I'm going crazy and hearing voices!" My heart was pounding and I heard the voice telling me to calm down, but after I had calmed down and was trying to listen for it again I didn't hear anything.

I hope it comes back, I'd really like to know if it was one of my spirit guides I know or someone new.

You're not alone anyway, I hope you find the answers you're looking for.:)

There are so many theories on hearing voices. It is important to accept that we hear voices--they do not cause any harm. There will always be negative and friendly voices. Some will talk to you; others won't. I've been a voice hearer for about nine years and have had several conversations with my voices. What these voices are, I do not know. Why they are here, I do not know. But they are of the spiritual world or of a parallel universe, and there is a barrier of some sort between us and the voices. They cannot cause any physical harm, at least in my experience. Know that you can train your ears to block them out, so it becomes more of a background noise.

Irma - not much help here. If someone bugged me, I'd throw back the covers and go looking for them. I have done it. But get over being scared. We exist here or somewhere else. I'm more a hunter than a hunted.

Hi Irma, I, too, had and still have those voices talk to me. Sometimes they would say (loudly) "hey" as if they wanted me to pay attention right away. I still haven't figured out want they want or if their just playing a trick on me. Who knows. I do ask if anyones there but I get no answer. Try asking them is there anything you can do to help them. It just may be a simple request, or someone wants to play. When, and if you, all of a sudden, get frightened, just imagine yourself surrounded by a bright white light, just like as is you were in the center of the sun (you won't get burned, believe me) and call upon your Spirit Guides to help you through this. They are here to help you in all ways possible. Believe that they will help you and they will. Ok. Take care sweetie 😊

I can tell that a voice is sprits from your past life because I have quite same experience as you. It began since I was young I always dreams about my past life nearly every night I kept fighting with my fear and something that I don't know talking voices at night time until when I am 20 year old I didn't dream a lot as when I was young but I still can hear voices and much more real thing happen to me like something wake me at night shaking my bed or my body like someone get very angry with me. And now I grew up everything still the same but I didn't scare anymore because I try to understand what happen with me I think in every way believe or not believe? Am I crazy or not crazy? Be strong think if you cannot run away from it why don't facing to it. I mean keep your mind strong and talk to them asks them what they want crossing the fear and find your own way to live with them. Good luck.

Hi Irma,

This is just a possible explanation of what happened. For a number of years I have suffered from sleep paralysis, apprently most people experience this at some point in their lives but it normally happens once and so people get freaked out and think it was a one off visit by some kind of spirit.

People experiences vary dramamatically, fortunately its a completely safe and in fact not paranormal at all. When everybody falls asleep their bodies enter a paralyzed state where ours brains stop our muscles moving so we don't hurt ourselves whilst sleeping, sleep paralysis occurs when the mind wakes up but the body is still paralyzed.

This happens to me once every 2 weeks or there abouts, Symptoms vary somewhat, the main ones being the inability to move, scream out, open eyes, sensations of floating, being held down, halluciations and hearing voices.

I understand you weret actually asleep when you had this experience however on the odd occasions I can slip into sleep paralysis when I'm simply lying in bed and a bit tired, on a number of occasions I have heard voices and had a feeling of pressure on my chest before I have even noticed I'm falling alseep.

Lukily this is all completely harmless, there's medication for those who get extreme cases of it but to be honest if you understand what's happening its not that bad. Voices and haluncinations can be pretty freaky but theyre just a result of you being in a part dream/part awake state.

I once thought my dad was stood next to my bed telling me to stop being lazy and get up, it took me a while to open my eyes but when I did it was the middle of the night and he was obviously not there - people have these kinds of visions of aliens, ghosts etc but its just the way your mind try to rationalise the dream with reality... Trust me I know how 'real' you hearing the girls voice was but it wasn't actually there.

Anyway... This is just one explanation, but then again I'm not really a believer in the unexplained (even though my aunt claims to have a haunted house and her stories are pretty convincing) If it helps I have studied explainations for paranormal behaviour at university... Obviously all text book relate to us as humans trying to find something to place unexplaiable events on (such as ghosts). Obviously you have some belief in the paranormal and I don't want to take that away from you, who am I to say ghosts don't exist, however sleep paralysis is a relatively common phenomena which would explain what happened to you.

Google sleep paralysis... Wikipedia gives a good enough insight and read other peoples experiences I'm sure it will put your mind at rest. It is totally harmless so just try to relax the next time it happens...

I hope this helps

If you don't feel as if they're evil than go ahead and try to talk to them. If it we're me, I would. And if it makes you feel any better I am 14 myself!
