Clairvoyance? Premonitions? Gift Or Curse?

I am a Native American male, 55 years if age, educated with a Masters Degree from an accredited University -an M.A. In Education-Agency Counseling. Ever since I can remember as a boy growing up on an Indian reservation and having the unique experience of going out of state one summer in 1963 to the state of Illinois; I've always had this uncanny ability to feel, sense, and know something before it happens, or know the answer to something before it happens without knowing beforehand.

I had gone to a zoo and had seen a camel for the first time in my life in St. Louis, Mo. In the summer of 1963, and immediately knew that camels "spit on you," without knowing or ever seeing a camel in my life not from school, in books, or the media-T.V. And Radio, never in my life before. I grew up poor, but I just knew a check-money was going to be in the mailbox at certain times and it came true. I knew when someone who had a brain tumor, was going to live when all her doctors said she was going to die, and she lived. Never seeing people or knowing them before in my life I would know their names and even nick names. I would know if someone was going to die by somehow feeling death, and they would die.

I talked to many people, but was not satisfied with anyone answer of what I have. I often ask people who know I have this ability if it is a gift or curse? Some say a gift and some a curse. I have a lot more to tell; but will conclude here for now. I wished it happened in forecasting lottery numbers, but it don't work that way. I had seen a movie like millions of other people have, based on a book by Stephen King, about a man who has this uncanny ability to know something bad was going to happen. I associate what I have with him. That's a movie, I'm for real.

Do you know if you are descendant from any healers or medicine people? I also am of native heritage. Do Sioux People have clans? In my heritage your clan defines what your place is in the Community on a practical and spiritual level.
With my Tribe, it is prophesied that Ancient Ones would come before the big change to reteach the ancient ways to living descendants. I am of mixed heritage and in addition to my abilities, I have an Ancient One who comes to me and shows me things. I know about the Sioux White Buffalo Woman and her significance.
Anyway I struggled with "Why Me" I am mixed. I was told by Elders that spirits don't see the color of our skin but the content of our spirit. I finally built up the courage to approach my grandma, as our native heritage has been down played ALOT, out of fear I would imagine. My family has had the common struggles known to Native Americans displaced from their heritage trying to live in a non native world. She was so happy that I came to her because she felt no one else in the family cares. She had the same visions as I when she was younger. I now know where my abilities come from and why. Though I do have all kinds of visions relating to my other 2 bloodlines.
I am respectful of the teachings of all People and would love to communicate with you.
I know Blackfoot/BlackFeet are like cousins to the Sioux People. I have been to many healing sweats for Veterans, The sweat is in the Blackfoot way. I play my flutes. Traditionally in the teachings of my heritage, women only sweat during sickness and after the Moons stop. I was given the go ahead to sweat for these Veterans because it is for their healing. A prominent Blackfoot Elder went to the Elders Council where his reserve is and told them of my flute playing and how truly healing it is though not traditional inside the sweat.
Now other sweats invite flutes as well. I am happy to be in service to all People.

MH09 --- I do believe my father actually visited me in that dream strange as the dream was. While many people may believe our loved ones are still with us after death, it is nice receiving confirmation and visits from them, isn't it?
Take care.

pegs-deborah, are you ready for this? I feel and believe you were visited by your dad. I told my daughter the same thing. It brought her to tears, but I told her look on the bright side of this, parents are seemingly always looking out for their children, no matter in what world. I lost both of my parents years ago, and on a recent birthday two years ago, they were suddenly on my mind "out of the blue" prior to my birthday. I wondered why I thought of them. The morning of my birthday, I awoke at 6:00 a.m., sat in the living room with a cup of coffee, and begin thinking of them again, and thinking about my birthday, and found myself yearning and wishing somehow, someway, they were there for my birthday, and all of a sudden; I can't explain it; the T.V. Turned on and back off by itself. I sat there quietly choked up a little, and smiled to myself and said thanks Mom & Dad, as I strongly felt their presense "as a birthday visit from my late parents." Still choked up I got happy they thought enough of me to come and visit me on my birthday, or I would like to think they did. I felt their presense strongly at that very moment anyway.

mh09 -
That is interesting about your daughter dreaming about her grandmother. I've had something similar happen.

My father died when I was 2 1/2 years old. My brother had just turned 1. I know things about him but I never knew him, sadly. He was Native American, he was a guitar player (a pretty talented one), I know his favorite cookie, I know his nickname for me, and I've seen pictures of him. My mother and her mother and all my family have always shared as many personal anecdotes about him as they could remember.

Interestingly enough, I have never had a dream about my father. I don't know why. If I have had a dream about him in the past, then I don't remember it. A few months ago, I dreamt about him. I should mention that my brother died when he was 17 in a car accident - this was over 10 years ago. Well, a couple of months ago, I dreamt my brother, my father, and myself were taking a vacation to visit the Aztec/Mayan pyramids. I have no idea why we would take a vacation there but we did. I remember specifically being at the top of one of the pyramids (my brother and father were 'flying' all around the pyramid at the time) and I sat down on a 'throne.' I don't know that it was actually a throne but it was a seat. Well, I toppled backwards. I don't know why. The seat must not have been secure. My brother and father stopped what they were doing and laughed at me falling over. Weirdly enough the same night (but a different dream I guess) - I remember I was at a train tracks. All my father's family were there. I didn't know who they were exactly but I knew they were his family (and there were a lot, a lot, a lot - like a nation of people almost). Well, when I asked what we were doing someone said that we were waiting for my father to come walking down the tracks. Sure enough, he did. He walked up to me and asked my permission to be reborn as my son. I said yes that was okay with me. Actually, I was kind of excited at the thought because I thought it would give me an opportunity to get to know him better as my child. Then, this part is funny, I waved my finger under his nose and told him that the conditions were he had to finish school and go to college. I didn't care if he majored in music but before he could pursue his music career he had to get an education. He didn't tell me he was pursuing a music career. I just 'knew' that was what he wanted to do with his life. He bowed his head and nodded. Although I could tell he didn't like the idea he said that yes, he would agree to those conditions. (in life, my father absolutely hated school).

I haven't entirely made up my mind what I believe in regarding reincarnation. This could have been a dream - a wishful thinking sort of dream to get to know my father better. I don't mind him being reborn as my child. It would be a little weird but I'd like to get to know him. However, I choose to believe that this was a visit from my father. I like the idea that I got to take a family vacation with him and my brother. The even weirder thing is I'm not married and not dating anyone so having children definitely isn't in my near plans.

Well, I thought I'd share this story since you said your daughter has dreams of her grandmother. I am sure they are visits from her grandmother. How cool that she gets to meet her and know her this way.

Psychic ability is a GIFT if you use it to help yourself and others, but can seem like a CURSE if you do not learn how to use it properly or do not use it at all and so it only haunts you and seems to taunt you.

Also there might be times when you are the only person you know who thinks of it as a gift. Friends might avoid you because of it and so then you begin to wonder if it is instead a curse. Indeed when no one believes in it and you feel alone it can feel like a curse. Even more a reason why we all need to make others understand and accept it.

Although do not feel disappointed when all will not believe, when fate takes the life anyways when you tried your best to save them, and when you need money but never win the lottery. Everything happens for a reason, but sometimes we are not allowed to know that reason.

If we want the mass majority public to accept our gift then we too must learn to accept certain things about it.

pegs_deborah, I fully agree with the content of your post. I also believe this psychic thing- runs in families too. I have a 29 year old daughter who has re-occurring dreams of her Grandmother on my side of the family. She dreams of my mother coming to her, the only mystery of that is; my mother died 6 month after my daughter was born, and they never had seen, met, or knew each other before she passed away.

I have precognitive dreams. I dream things before they happen. I have found it to be both a blessing and curse. Often times, I feel that the gift of knowing the future is a curse. However, usually something will happen which will throw my knowledge of the future into 'light' and I will understand why I saw the future and what I was supposed to do with it. In those moments, precognition is a blessing. The challenge, for me at least, is to remember that when I feel burdened, or alone, due to my precognitive abilities that clarity will eventually come. I just have to be patient. Patience isn't my strong suit. I do believe, however, that developing these gifts (which I believe are latent abilities all people have) is the key to living with them. I think that the more I understand the more I understand and the less I feel my abilities are a curse.

I have a Bachelor's in History and a Masters Degree in English and I teach Freshman Composition at a College here in Texas. I most likely will further my education (because I like to learn). I am well-read and well-educated. I have had out of body experiences (which were fun if a little weird) and I am an empath and I have heard spirit voices before. I've been pretty fortunate in that my family is pretty open-minded. I have several family members - sisters, aunts, cousins, my grandmother - who have had experiences similar to mind. I do my best to read as much about psychic abilities and experiences as I can. I also try to surround myself with people (my family in my case) who are open to hearing my thoughts on these subjects and who are interested in my experiences. This helps. A lot.

For those who are new to this site, educating yourself and surrounding yourself with like-minded people (such as those you can find on this site) is helpful.

Often we don't know our fate until it unfolds. We can make all the plans in the world but then fate happens and we roll with it (or not). The key is staying open and letting it happen in your life. Make your plans, set your goals, work hard at what inspires you and leave the rest to the universe. You can't plan for what you don't know, only be prepared for what you think might happen.

You make an interesting point about how some people can change their perceived fate and others can't but this can loop around again in your mind by saying it was their fate to change their fate;) What is "fate"? Before we are born, we make conscious decisions about the lessons we need to learn, the experiences we need to have, and the role we will be serving to others. That's the high level and if we don't achieve that, no worries, we'll come back for more tries. Some people can change the rate that his unfolds because they become conscious earlier on to what it is they need to be doing. Or you can slide into oblivion and say to hell with it, I'll worry about it in the next life. Every human is different and the rate they get to their goals varies.

It's very hard to pinpoint destiny. When do you reach it? If we live eternally, when is it met? This is very philosophical and a book would have to be written to fully cover it. We can get lost in the big picture of fate and destiny but lose the reality of day-to-day lessons and living. Do any of us truly know what our fate is in this lifetime? Rare is the person who can look into their akashic record and fully know what their exact lesson or experience will be in this lifetime. And fate is a rolling issue. The "fate" may be that you meet a kindred soul partner in this life but what is the next fate and the one after that? I wrote a verse once that went something like this, "Destiny is that we meet, choice is what you do with it, love is all there is."

Sure, some (I think most) things are meant to be. We learn through the difficult and it's a lesson we need. Again, we can make all the plans in the world but then life happens.

It is kind indeed to help people and even warn them. Where we falter is feeling guilty if we didn't see it in time or that we can't get through to them. That's not our problem (ego says contrary). If they endure something unpleasant, it was meant to be. Our role is to be neutral, help where we can and not get caught up in negative attachment to what we don't understand - the drama. Pain is necessary and we must realize humans have to endure this to some degree or they won't learn. Let the first graders experience first grade. Don't graduate them to high school or college until they (not you) are ready.

You are able to look at your past with wisdom. This only occurred because you (and all of us) make mistakes. A mistake is only a lesson in disguise. Release the negative attachment to the word. I personally lost count of all my mistakes because I made so damned many. But I can now say I'm a heck of a lot more wise and therefore thank those experiences, and not repeat them because the lesson is learned. They only persist until the person gets it.

I don't think there is a clear path because each path is unique. I can talk the world at what I perceive the human path to be, but it's unique so how much and accurately can one say? My only advise to anyone is to do your best and release your desire for control and let things unfold. Even when we run from our lessons, they have a terrific way of finding us;)

Peace to you too and happy holidays.

😐AnneV (moderator) Thank you very much for allowing me on this site. I'm glad and feel good, that I found people with similiar experiences in the Psychic field, caliber, and feel a sense of belonging. I agree with everything you said. I wished I had the psychic ability to predict lottery numbers.

😐Edmund, you are right, on the flip side, seeing danger you can intervene if you can, and persuade someone not to do something, if they are confronted with something harmful in nature or even deadly to their being.

😐Anne, what you say makes sense, I am very keenly aware of what you said and how you perceive things, and most of all I understand what you say. I think of ways to warn people myself. It's not easy most of the time; it is a sensitive intricate tactfully issue sometimes. The end result of warning someone is, they often in turn think of you as a "space case," I know what you mean.

Anne:

What happens for example when a person decides differently about their fate and changes it? Why is it that some people can decide differently and it does not change? Is the intent weak? Or is it predestined? I know that we can know with certainty the outcome of something as as the situation unfolds it can changes and morph into something else. Eventually that knowing with absolute certainty seems to manifest but my confusion comes with the question: Can we and do we have the ability to change things and if so can we also change destiny?

I ask because I worked for years with people as a psychic and recognized that some things are just meant to be even if they weren't aware. It was like watching a movie of their life and reading the energy of the cast and characters and the reasons they were interacting. Yet there were some things that pained me to watch people go through and it seemed it was predestined yet I sensed that if there were just that "one thing" that they could see and change, the pain would not have to be experienced. Does that make sense? It was so hard to watch. I recognized that my own trials and struggles were of my making because I couldn't release or wouldn't release something I knew was not good for me. Is this where Karma comes in? Maybe I am asking for a clear path to something that is just not clear, it is different with each individual and situation.

Blessings and peace. ❤

mh09... Its a funny thing... If it makes you happy its a gift. If it makes you sad its a curse. If it somehow benefits your family or friends your amazing or talented. If it does not your some kind of evil. I call it knowing and don't say much about it except to people who need a little help or who know also.

Life is neutral. People write this site all the time and say being psychic is a curse then someone else says it's a blessing. So which is it? It's what you make of it and your attitude (like anything in life). The term is just 'psychic'. That's the ability to know something outside of the normal five senses. We all have it to some degree and some have it more than others, while others have less of it but work hard at increasing it.

Seeing the lottery can and does happen. I know because I have and also know of several other women who have. The state to attain that is getting into theta (while staying conscious) or leaving the body and using the "will" centers. Truly, where there is a will, there is a way.

Thanks for sharing.

Anne
