Astral Projection Experience?

I'm new to this site and this is just one question of the many I have. I'm very curious as to what people will say. Also, just so you know I've never tried to astral project, I'm not even sure how to. I'd love to learn though.

Alright, so I was laying on the couch in my living room resting. I was in that state where you're not fully asleep but still aware of your body. Then, all of a sudden I felt myself stretch my "arm" down through the couch. At the same time I still felt my real arm curled up against my chest. I tried sitting up and felt like I was slipping out of a tight bathing suit. Then I started floating up towards the ceiling. Again, I still felt my body curled up on the couch even though I wasn't in it. As I was floating I tried opening my eyes, but when I attempted it, it felt as if I was "sucked" back into my body.

Was I experiencing astral projection? I've never had the experience of feeling my body yet not being in it. At the same time I felt like I had little control over what was happening to me. While I was floating I tried directing where I was going and didn't get very far. Usually when stuff happens like that to me, I have a hard time controlling it. That is another thing I want to know, why I have trouble completely controlling whatever is going on.

In addition to,
You will know if you really is astral projecting/travelling.

It feels like a person who normally walks with eyes open except that you are flying or totally submerged underwater.

KitCat27, I'd still believe it was astral projection, but maybe you were too 'awake' for it to work?

funnybunnychowchow (nice name by the way ^_^) I don't think anyone's crazy until they give me reason to. Hmm maybe it was the spirit world, that makes more sense to me actually thinking back...

I wasn't in a deep sleep though. I know when I'm dreaming and when I'm not. I dream every night and I've visited different planets and met different creatures, both sentient and non-sentient. But this happened when I was on the verge of sleep. It's like you're standing on the edge of a cliff. It's like vertigo can make you fall over the cliff into unconsciousness or make you step back into full consciousness. In that state I'm mentally aware of my body but its paralyzed. When I slipped out of my body I was blind and deaf. It was all feeling. I don't know why I was sucked back into my body when I tried opening my eyes though.

Hello there
I can astral project whenever I am on a deep sleep. I went to places like america's statue of liberty, north and south poles. I even went underwater to see the remains of the titanic. I also astral projected in the past, I had been to some places where civil and medieval wars occur. I had even seen heavenly angels of god. It is great to astral project because you will see yourself flying like a bird above the sky or swim like a fish underwater. It really is a great experience and I hope I can do it willingly while sleeping.=)

Here's what I do. I can't astral project at will like I could when I was a kid. (I lost it during my ADHD medicine phase of life and am currently trying to re-gain it...)
I slow my breathing and clear my head. It's better if you're tired to begin with if you're new at it. (I've learned to sleep at will ^_^.)

What I used to do for astral projection was imagine that my bed was turning upside-down slowly and that I was going to fall.

Eventually I'd get a feeling of vertigo and actually fall (up). But I'd be imagining I'd be falling down over an ocean or something.

As a kid, I think I thought that I was just imagining places and thinking of fun places to be. But looking back, I think I actually went to places.

How do you go into that half awake half asleep state willingly? Usually it happens to me randomly and it's completely out of my control.

Once I got out of my house all the way down the road. Then I realized where I was, and got pulled back.
Then I woke up. It was cool ^_^

Great comment Rain, glad you mentioned that this happens during sleep sometimes I catch myself in the middle of floating out. Four months ago, caught myself floating out past the ceiling it was nighttime anyways in moving up through second floor of apartment came across a tenant leaning over his veranda smoking a cigarette tried very hard to get his attention kept calling out hey Gary its me his eyes widened like he saw something. Not sure if he saw me anyways very strange and interesting as to how this happens during sleep. I have tried doing this during daytime get close to ceiling then find myself wandering in thought and it stops.

Hahah, that's funny. I just sent in a story on astral projection.

Well,I think I can astral project, but I'm not sure. My cells indivdualy go crazy, like vibrating, but I'm awake O.o

Anyway, that's coolio! Try astral projecting at will, like do those steps you did while you were at your couch. It'll probably work again:)

I think you were experiencing astral projection. I've done it in my sleep sometimes, but It's always been out of my control like it was part-dream etc.

I've heard that a great many people astrally project in their sleep without realizing it.

I'd like to learn how to do it for real too ^_^.
