To start off with, "flaring" is making the controllable energy inside your body visible. People (including myself) who practice manipulating this energy are called Psions, and the practicing of it is called Psionics. If you haven't guessed, the energy itself is called Psi.
Also, you know how in the dark you can eventually see the outline of objects once your eyes adjust? Keep that in mind, as well as the fact that I always go to bed with loud music on. Well, I was laying in bed about a month ago, trying to go to sleep when I decided to try flaring for the first time. I proceeded to gather energy between my hands by visualizing it rising up out of my abdomen, through my chest, down my arms, and out of my hands. I visualized a ball forming, then made it larger and compressed and intensified it. Suddenly I heard a very distinct popping sound (yes, I heard this over my music), and the outline of everything in my room disappeared, with the exception of my hands, which I could see clearly now. In between my hands was a white ball about the size of a marble. It stayed there for about three seconds.
Strangely, after this incident, I couldn't do ANYTHING with energy for about two days. After that, I was easily moving energy throughout my body again. I suppose that I had overloaded myself or something.
