Now I understand this site said no dreams only my dream was about the ghost haunting my cousins house.

About a year ago I started having these dreams that wake me up screaming and it was terrifying.

Well about three months later, I was at my cousins house and in the middle of the night I get up to use the restroom you know like a normal person.:). If only.

Well when I go into their restroom I always feel strange, like something is watching me Its terrifying. But, I always put this off as to normal fear of seclusion and the dark.

Before I can remember I have had a fear of the dark. Well anyways, I came out of the restroom and in my right ear a man goes pst. Hey I was absolutely terrified and went and looked in on my two younger cousins and they were passed out well after I checked on them I went and climbed on the couch with my twin sister.

Two weeks later I was sleeping in my younger cousins bed at night, and I had an incredibly vivid dream of the room I was in and saw a dark shadow of a man walking back and forth in the hallway.

My younger cousin who is about five when she was three saw a man in her room and after that dream I found out that the man she really saw was a shadow.

Now I don't understand this I know the site says they don't do interpretations of the dreams but is this my way of viewing an entity since I saw what my younger cousin saw when she was younger. Now again, let me remind you that I had no idea that she saw the shadow of a man. I only knew she saw a man.

Now this is strange because when all of this strange stuff started happening to me I was 17 I'm now 18 and the only weird thing since then has been same vivid dream only screaming awake and the dream is still there. I don't understand why I'm 18 and what ever these things are all I know is that they are incredibly frightening.

Because before last year, I had never saw something like a person or shadow in a dream let alone screaming and crying myself awake. Any advice?

shadow twin, you should realize whatever happens you are special just by being you.

That being said if you get past your fear, you might learn something special about the world and others. At least that is what happened to me. Best wishes on your journey:)

Callie, thanks for the post it was very helpful to see how others dealt with the fear obstacle.

Ok so next time something like this happens I will let the frightening shadow run its course and see what happens. I'm kind of intrigued of the fear this time. I know weird but if I really am astral projecting I would love to getr past this fear to discover something special about myself. 😁 😆

Personally I think I got over the fear-lock stage the first time by 'giving up'.

My initial spontaneous OBE's (started when I was 16-ish) were not visited by entities though - it was the more simple 'unable to breathe/unable to move' sleep paralysis and my fear was that, simply, I had stopped breathing and I was suffocating, and that the buzzing in my head was my brain 'about to pass out' in the act of shutting down from no oxygen, and that *if I could not breathe, I WOULD DIE.*

In the end, I surrendered my fear of death, basically. I wouldn't say that I 'had given up and was ready to lay there and die' - so 'give up' might be the wrong sort of term. Aquiescence, acceptance, may be closer to the word I am looking for. 'This sensation and these things happening every night is something that has been unstoppable. I therefore can not be afraid anymore.' I was sick and tired of being terrified.

And I think that's what usually stops people from being afraid, especially those who start their OBE's with spontaneity as opposed to those people who research the phenomenon, and then put it in practice armed with the foreknowledge of what is going on and what will happen. The difference between watching someone about to pop a balloon (and expecting the BANG!) and a balloon popping out of nowhere (Eep.)

Focus on the idea of your fight and flight response. Though 'kicking and screaming to come awake and get away' feels like a 'fight' response, if you want to go further into that it's actually 'flight'. Don't kick off the covers, kick the shadow in the shins. That'll teach'em for staring at you while you're sleeping, anyway. (sounds irreverent or silly and in a sense it is, but seriously. Once you really start astral travelling, everything, everyone, and everybody tends to want to come stare at you or hang out and talk gibberish in your room or have what sounds like a board meeting *all over your bed* at some point. Though it can be interesting to experience, eventually it can be taxing... They REALLY don't care if you have to be up for something the next morning in a few hours, and not everything that shows up is a divine messenger etc. Sometimes things are just plain bored or curious.

Also the smallest and most valuable bit of advice is - don't try to move. Just think of moving. Ever falling asleep and it feels like your limbs are tangled at weird angles, or your hands are touching, but they're not (or vice versa, etc)? That's your physical body laying one way and your astral body in a different shape. So if you've ever laid there thinking, 'Wow, it feels like my arms are twisted like pretzels but I know I never really moved them' try this exersize - *think of them moving to their proper places (where it feels like they should be). Or think of lifting them. If you have those sorts of senations before Mr. Shadow is showing up, it's really possible that you're having an OOBE, but just never getting out of bed, and he's showing up because he sees you there, 'travelling' but not moving, and he's just trying to figure out what's going on.

(Short story: Laying in bed. I have 5 hours to sleep before work. I keep 'ejecting' from my body (I had a LOT of control issues back in the day). I get annoyed. I lay on my side. It still happens. I give up, so I'm laying there, out of body, but 'in' my body, astral face mooshed into the pillow. Of course now something comes in like 'Ooh lookie. A traveller.' Comes into the room (some grey/whitish humanoid-form. I'll be selfishly honest. At the time I didn't even care to look close enough save to see it was some form of entity - I'm TIRED and I want to SLEEP.) I'm smiling thinking about it, now, this poor thing. Sits on the side of the bed and rests a hand on my shoulder and shakes me a little. I'm laying there like a little kid pretending to be asleep (HE'LL NEVER KNOW right, it's not like I'm not obviously in the Astral at this point, right? 😢 😢) So it sits there for awhile (a minute or two), shakes me again, and I still refuse to move or talk, and he gives up and walks off. Then I *still* can't get back into my body. At that point I give up and fall asleep -- outside of my own body. I was really, REALLY tired.;)

practice, and knowledge that it can't really harm your inner innate being. It might damage your human body but that can heal.

You just have to find something you trust and believe in. I surround myself with love and memories of people and events in my life that I love. You can try the same. They are part of the shields that keep me safe. Memories and positive emotions made into spiritual defenses because I see both as spiritual energy that can be manipulated.

I really wish I could get past the fear but These dreams or OBEs last maybe thirty seconds at most because as soon as I see this thing I'm paralyzed with fear then I'm screaming and running out of bed like a mad woman on fire. Its even been so terrifying that I was cowering in the corner of my bed and wouldn't leave until my sister came like that's how bad the fear from this thing is. How would I control that much fear?

callie, shadowtwin its nice to watch minds at work and making connections.

I actually think if people get over their fear of "shadows" they will form into more concrete images then the people will be able to recognize the entity for what they really are instead of just calling them "shadows" which pretty much what most people call anything they encounter in the spiritual realm.

Some people have gone past that fear and are creating or using names and words to describe what they see and I personally see some interconnectedness in there descriptions and encounters as well.

Shadowtwin, the "entity" doesn't prevent you from OBE, your fear does, you have to learn how to over come that. I"m an empath and only OBE when someone tugs at one of my psychic strands and request a meeting. Most of the time I meet with people's guardians and they ask me to carry a message that their charge won't listen too. Kind of like an intervention. Sometimes its people I've only meet once. I get a picture of the person and the message. That's it, doesn't make sense to most of the time but upon delivery the person laughs, cries, reacts angrily, etc. In the end they come to peace with it and explain what it means. Somehow it helps them deal with this life.

I hope you both are able to develop your skills and find ways to help others with them.

Whew! Small question, big answer:) A shadow man (Shadowman, shadowdedmen, shadow people, etc) is an 'entity type', so yes. And then some folks break them up into 2 groups, 'Shadow people' and 'Shadowmen'. Basically it's an almost blanket term to anything that looks like a 'shadow', some researchers and collectors of the info on them have been trying to classify them into tighter groups (as there's the creepy disjointed not quite human ones, the ones that walk around as per normal, the ones who catch people in vivid dreams/OBE progression, the ones who stand at the foot of the bed of the dying, etc.)

I wish I could find a sort of an 'all encompassing' link about them, but the info on them is about as scattered as they seem to be.

Glad we could help!:) Robert Bruce's book is one of many, but I found to be one of the most 'thorough' - its no skinny paperback:D. It used to be free on the internet on his site, but I think these days he is charging for it as he's come out with a new edition.

There's nothing wrong with being over-eager to learn - it's when we stop learning - then it's time to worry:D

If you look through stories about shadowmen and OBE's, you'll find parallels in a lot of them as many times they go hand in hand, but people will refer to something only as an OBE, or only as a shadowman encounter (or sometimes just as 'a ghost' or 'a demon' or 'a dream' or 'a nightmare'.) There's quite a few stories here to read through, and quite a bit on the net at large. As you start going through them all, you begin to see how things are interconnected, and it gets pretty interesting!:)

Ok well this makes so much more sense to me only mine isn't a man with red eyes. In these I'm just going to call them vivid dreams, the thing that jolts me awake kicking and screaming is a floating black black thing outlined in blue but now that I think about it, this thing is trying to stop me only I have no idea how to get around it because it targets my worst fears. Thanks, Ill look into astral projection. More stories on this subject would help as well! I'm sorry if I seem like an over eager puppy. But in a way I am this is new and finally finding awnsers is refreashing. 😁

Can an entity stop you from having an out of body experience? A resounding yes. Robert Bruce who wrote a book on Astral projection refers to this dark figure (sometimes appearing with glowing red eyes, usually synonymous-appearing in the usual reports on Shadowded Men) he calls 'The Dweller on the Threshold'.

That particular being/thought form is also coined in Blavatsky's work -- I see myself doing a little more research into it tonight:) to see why Robert Bruce chose that name for it.

However 9 times out of 10 you see it, it scares you silly, and 'jolts' you out of whatever state your mind was entering. Controlling that fear to be able to soldier on despite its presence usually results in an OBE. I've had the... Ahem scared out of me by them several times until I learned to control my emotions in that state - to me at least an OBE is far less thought controlled and more emotion controlled. *thinking* is hard. *feeling* is easy. So instead of thinking, 'Wow this thing looks creepy' and going through a logical chain-of-thought of 'Of course its going to look creepy and scare because of reasons A B C' I instead would FEEL creeped out and scared until I learned better control.

May seem like I talk about OBE's 'endlessly' but they and shadowded men are the things I like to study; I am enjoying seeing how the two experiences seem to intertwine in other people's experiences as they do in mine.:)

well actualy I wasn't as terrified with the being I saw in the hallway the only fear has come from when I'm home and The black shadow is hovering over me. Can an entity stop you from having an out of body experience by any chance? Because maybe I am having one but there is so much terror coming from that shadow that I'm jolted awake. I don't know I'm simply taking a guess to all of this because I am so new to it.

shadow twin,
if you can see your room and the shadow hovering over you in these "vivid dreams", it sounds like you might be having out of body experiences. There is a lot on this site about it. The "intense fear" might come from the being and not you at all or you might be scared of the unknown?

You have to figure it out and remember this website is made of a lot of peoples ideas and suggestions, you still have to choose who to believe and what to do with your own life.

Keep an eye on your cousin it sounds like she can "sense" and "see" things too. Perhaps when she's older you two can learn together?

What I have found from my own experience, (at least for ME, I claim no great powers, you understand) is that a full body~ clear, seemingly real person in a dream is usually a visitor.
Shadows sometimes, for ME, is someone I have yet to meet.
If this is frightening, and you wish for it to stop, you can "start out" by playing soothing music before bed (or while laying there), non-stimulating reading materials (for a while there, I actually read through a few different kinds of dictionaries), try to clear your mind of ANYTHING stressful.
It is a step closer to meditation, but not quite there. Change your activities (if possible) right before bed.
Sometimes it only takes ONE "different", and sometimes it needs quite a few.
Thank you.

No that is the only dream I have had that I have seen a real person. The other dreams I have had I call them my vivid dreams because I can recall every single detail of my room like I'm asleep. But there is a Black shadow or cloud hovering over my and this dark shadow thing I don't know how to discribe it. I only know that these dreams are beyond terrifying and I have no control only tremendous fear. Oh and when I said that was the only shadow I saw I lied. I was asleep in my room only a shadow darker then my room was in my face. I have no idea what amy of this would mean or if I'm just crazy.

dreams are highly personal for most people. There are some that predict worldwide events, but most are about that person's life and what they will encounter.

Mine help me deal with people who wlll act mad or hateful towards me and tells me why and allows me a chance to work through various scenarios until we resolve the issue and the person is no longer mad. Normally for me it has to do with past life karmic debt that they feel that I've somehow wronged them. I speak to them at night in the spirit world before I ever meet them in real life (normally a couple days before our real life encounter) and I find out how to deal with it so that we both can find peace with each other.

Perhaps you should face your fears and find out why they are scaring you? I would keep a dream journal and a real life journal and see if they are interrelated. I would write down my "dreams" and forget them until I reread them after live out the dream in real life. Then it made a lot of sense and I was thankful for the chance to replay the scenario (in some of my dreams one or the other of us would die, but it would replay until I made the right choices or said the right words and we both lived)

I think dreams are teaching tools but that is just my opinion and advice.

(sorry for the long post)

A visitation. It really sounds as if the two of you (in this particular instance) were visited by the same entity. It really could go both ways on who was in need of the verification, it did not HAVE to be that you supported HER story. Maybe SHE was there to support YOURS.
Some people who see, only see visitors from the Other Side while sleeping. Some see them wakened OR sleeping, and still others only see when fully awake.
The other dreams that you refer to. Were they informational? Or the "stuff most dreams are made of"? Meaning, where they a bit more...fantastical? If they were very similar to THIS one, I would tend to think towards visitations on them, more informative and you might be blessed with something ELSE. 😊
Thank you.

Do you have any idea what these "dreams" are? Because that dream at my cousins house was not the first vivid dream I have experienced? Any knowledge as to what I'm dealing with would be greatly appreciated! 😁

Well, that was not actually a dream. In MY opinion.
I would call that verification for your cousin. Young as she is, she probably needed someone to say it was really there. Your "dream" was her "support".
Thank you.
