Is There Something Special About The Moon?

Before I start, I want to know if anyone reading this is mesmerized by anything? Johanne (my Mother) is mesmerized by fire. I know a few people who share the trait. Some are in love with water, trees, things that revolve around nature. For me, anything natural, just takes my entire attention away. Completely. No questions asked.

But there's one that sticks out in the list. I could look at it forever and never get bored; The moon.

I've come to the conclusion that it's not just because I've always been able to see the moon, I feel like it runs a lot deeper then that, like it's special. Every time I see it, I just stand there, looking at it. I really can't figure out why.

It's even made me do stupid things (I mean the obsession, not the moon itself), so I can be closer to it. Once I stood outside in the middle of winter, when it was -27 degrees out. Another time I slid my screen away from my window and sat in my window, which is actually fairly dangerous because I was two stories up. I've done a lot more, but you get the idea.

That's not the only strange thing that happens. I always get a rush at night, and the moon just adds to it.

I've read a lot of things about the moon, like different goddesses are supposed to be in relation to the moon; Artemis, Cerridwen, Diana, Selene, I'm sure there's more then that, though. I've read about different theories about where the moon is from, and a lot more.

But nothing has been able to answer my question.

Is there something special about the moon?

Well I have the same obession with the moon since I was a child, it seems to be growing... I love stars too, I like to go up in the terrace when its dark and stare up in the sky, seeing moon makes me extra happy, though I still go to see the stars... And I actually talk to them about random stuff about life, sometime problems and good news... I feel they are listening, it makes me feel really calm and happy. When I am not talking alot, weird topic just arise in my mind like about god and Universe, I question things and get to an answer too... Nevertheless I feel really positive and strong after spending time with them... But unlike most of you, I am scared of water but attracted to fire more...

I am so relieved to find out that I'm not the only one! I'm also this way about water.
Ever since I was little, I loved swimming and mermaids and anything to do with water. Whenever spring came, I would have these awful urges to be in water and they almost didn't go away until I was finally able to go swimming. This year it wasn't bad, thank goodness!
And with the moon, I have struggles to make myself fall asleep during full moons and I always want to look at it. I feel like I almost go into a trance when I stare at the moon, and I feel like I get energy from the moon.
It's been incredibly frustrating lately, and I'm just glad I'm not completely alone.
Any ideas to what it is? Or mainly why?

I also share your love for the moon. In fact, I love it so much that I did an oil painting of it so I can always see it full. In fact, I noticed some time ago that almost all my oil paintings take place at night, with the moon present.
Every day I wear a piece of jewelry (it spoke to me I swear, when I saw it). It is a silver ring, with two crescent moons on each side, and in the center, a round moonstone. I have to wear it everyday. I just do.:-) ❤

Well, the moon has been associated with the mystical and sixth sense for thousands of years. People have believed it's the source of power for our psychic abilities and such. Like AngeliqueBousier said, pagan religions associate it with the Goddess.

Like you, I get a rush from nature in general but the moon itself is on a whole new level. You can draw power from nature, even the moon. Maybe it's because we're children of the night, or maybe because we were born in the after/night. One thing for sure? You can use the moon for protection, guidance, and many other things. Just ask it for a way to get your answer. Maybe it'll come in a dream, maybe you'll stumble upon an article about it. One way or another, you'll find your answer.

I love the moon so much as well. I can stare at the moon for hours and not notice time going by. The moon is mysterious but very beautiful to look at.

I have a abssesion with water and the moon. The moon and stars, I can stare at them for hours, I have never realy liked the daytime. The water part I wish I could live in it. If I was ever given the chance to live in the ocean as a mermaid I would as long as I had the capablities to stare at the moon and stars. Water draws me in and the moon is a facination too me. I know what you mean.

i can't really explain it myself, but I too have an obsession with the moon, stars and planets. My first thought every night when I watch the moon is "Momma". Usually I see different details in the moon while intently observing it.
My obsession has gone from just watching to taking pictures. I also think there are many powers held in the moon.
I hope you find your answers and, hopefully I then will find mine. 😉

Truly,
Katrina

Wow! I know what you mean! I have the same obession or real strong connection but with the sun! The sun gives me soo much strenght, comfort and liveness. I know it just be people need the sun but I know it goes deeper. Even though I have always wanted to categorize myself with the moon. My name is even Diana...haha. My best friend has always been the sun and me the moon but lately its different. I sometimes feel like the sun hugs me and kisses my cheek... Haha I sound crazy but that's what I feel. Anyway if you learn about your connection with the moon... Then can you help me with my connection with the sun. 😁

Mmm... Perhaps it is a Goddess that has touched your life. Many different religions believe the moon posses power.

In the Pagan religion however, it is said that the Moon is the daughter of Air and Water. The moon is also said to be the central source of power for the Goddess. So, for unknown reasons, you could be touched by the Goddess. This could be a sign. But, who am I to know. I only know as much as I let myself know. I do hope you find your answers soon. This still interests me deeply. ❤
