Inheritance

In movies and stories about witchcraft or (in our case) psychics, a young person finds themselves having strange powers no one else has. Later they find out their dead mother or biological parents had the same powers, and they embark on a quest to find their true destiny. Now, embarking on quests is pretty rare nowadays, but is there some truth in those stories? Could psychic powers and abilities be inherited?

I am able to a flash of the future and I can hear people talking about me or trying to get in touch with me through claireaudience. But let's focus on my precognitive ability. When I was little, my mother would warn me before I did something. Either something was dangerous and I would get hurt, or if I told someone something they would react differently than I'd expected. They weren't elaborate foretellings, just her saying, "I wouldn't do that because... Might happen."

One of her most (for lack of a better word) powerful warnings was when my dad did something with his car. I don't remember the story exactly because it was before I was born. I had heard it from my mom when she said to not test her, and she told me that something happened where she said his tire would end up in a tree. Sure enough he did whatever he was warned not to and, scary enough, one of the tires flew into a tree and was stuck up there.

I asked her to describe what she saw when she would warn, but she said it was only a feeling that she would get right before someone was about to do something. She saw nothing, only felt it. So could it be that I got my precognition from her?

We both have a little bit of each other's ability; I can sometimes warn, where she can sometimes have dream visions. I have never had a dream vision, but one of her strongest was foretelling my grandmother's death that morning and calling all her aunts, uncles, and cousins from Mexico.

Also a sidetrack, they all believed her without hesitation, and I know of some of my great aunts with psychic abilities. My immediate aunts are in tune with spirits, and many of my Mexican friends have psychic family members. I wonder if their is any connection to the Indians.

Anyway, like I was saying, we both have precognition, but in completely different forms. I was just wondering if psychic abilities (although I know everyone has them) are passed on through blood, or are completely random.
