Hello, I too am clairaudient and hear voices. I would like to say in reply to this story that there does not appear to be anything to worry about.

This voice told you to slow down and if you hadn't you could have been hurt.

I believe that one of your family members or perhaps another spirit being is simply watching over you and protecting you from harm.

If nothing negative has occured from what you have heard, then you should accept that you have a protector and listen to any positive advice you may need.

In addition, if you are worried about your family's reaction, you don't have to notify them.
If you have reason to believe one of yur relatives or friends are in trouble then mention so of course but don't feel obliged to tell them or ignore this voice because they may be sceptical.

Regards,
Kirsty x

Hi! I also hear voices... I know that sounds crazy, but I truly do. I usually hear people talk to me or say my name when I'm falling asleep. I go into a kind of half awake, half asleep phase and begin to hear people. It usually only happens when I'm really tired, the last one to fall asleep, or am alone. After my grandpa passed away, I would often hear his voice, then, saying things like, Megan! Or yawning like I always remembered him to. I knew, though, that it was his voice. Just a few nights ago I heard a guy's voice say, I bought a gun. I tried talking back. I said, what for? And he said, for hunting game. I knew it wasn't my thought bc I never would say for hunting "game" I'd prob. Think "animals" and then I had a strange sensation of being strangled... But I knew it wasn't me beign strangled. That was the strange part... It woke me up completely. Then later I heard a woman's voice say "I hope" and that's it...
I aslo hear someone say or whisper my name atleast once a week. Sometimes I feel someone grab my right side when no one is around... Once at my grandmother's grave on Christmas Eve.
I know my family would think I'm insane if I told them this, but it is all very true.

I am new to this site, and to writing about my experiences with this.

I started 'hearing' voices around 13 years old (I'm 30 now). I moved into a brand new house and heard a voice - not with my ears - but as if it was heard with my ears. Hard to explain, but it clearly was not a thought. It felt external. It was a man's voice talking to someone, not me. Then the whispering started at night. I would wake up from it, it was whispering in my ear and I couldn't remember any of it... But it was said with importance! I'd look over at the floor and my cat would be in the same spot almost at 4:00am on the dot, and she would be staring at me looking nervous. Over the years, I would hear only postive things saying 'excuse me' and 'thank you'. I would sometimes hear 'you're an angel' or 'you're beautiful'. Often, when I lived in an apartment complex, I would hear very distant yelling for hours, and couldn't make sense of any of it. Now, for the first time, I'm living in a house where, almost from the start of living here, I've heard mean, mean things that sound directed right at me. Like 'stupid b!tch' and sometimes I'd here 'idiot' up to 20 times a day. It's awful... But I work with it and have discovered it's not really intended for me (at least I hope not because it's pretty powerful and starting to affect me). Occaisionally I hear a positive thing or two here. I never see anything like shadows, or if I do, I don't care. I seriously feel like I have raised the vibration of this house... And I have to tell you, it's not easy! Don't think it'll take one shot of sage burning or a few prayers in a place that has attracted negative energy. Although, I could be working with this neighborhood more than my house... Which is somewhat disengaged and vibrating on a low level.

One other thing that I hear in this house is a voice saying a name v-e-r-y slowly, like in a horror movie. Once it woke me up out of sleep; another time it said my nickname, which I never use anymore. It said it to my left ear, which was resting against the couch as I fell asleep. Very loud! I didn't let it wig me out though. Help, does anyone know what this is? I've been to a therapist, but I'm not schizophrenic.

Ok. I recently started hearing voices... But can relate to what you are saying. My Mom hears voices, too. And, yes, they are spirits. Just, try to help them if they need it, talk to them. Thats what I do, talk to them.

Hi, I used to hear voices all the time, but it was when I was using meth. I had that addiction problem for 4 years and started hearing them the last year in a half. Finally when I quit, the voices stopped. Except for occasionally when I am deep in thought, or sleeping. They also came back to me when I was in labor and had the pain killer drugs in my system. I learned that I must have opened some doors that have never fully been closed. I've also learned not to listen to those voices. Like in your experience, something bad happened when you listened. Try to surround yourself with things that invite good thoughts. Try to listen to the voice of a higher power, not one that is trying to bring you down. Maybe when you recieve an impression followed by a warm feeling you are experiencing an impression you can trust.

Hi yeah they are spirits I seem to be going through the same thing they talk all at once but I don't know how they can understand each other maybe there doing it on purpose so we can't hear and listen to there conversation. I hear them downstairs but they seem to talk so fast its unbelievable. They don't seem to talk in front of me maybe there marking us on how well we're doing in life. Maybe there loved one's or people from past life's checking up on us. The spirits I see never seem to talk so they might talk another language. The spirits come from my dreams. I dream about the spirit world usually when a spirit contacts me through my sleep also I have dreams of me being in other countries there's loads of different places in the spirit world so it could be it all together. 😊

You have to be careful with saying you hear voices because usually one will assume that you're either one crazy or secondly you're hearing ghost voices. I too hear voices on occasion, but it's not from ghosts it's from live people, not dead. On the first experience one might assume that this 'voice' is from a dead person simply because most assume that live people have to communicate with words, meaning they must be in person to have a 'voice' or talking on the phone of the sort. You tend to pick up more 'voices' if you do not actually focus on the person who is speaking in their mind or 'thinking aloud' in a sense, but rather see what they are focusing on and it works really well. I think that's also where people get confused is that they focus on the person, than rather seeing it from their perspective not directly on them.

I came to this forum because I too was hearing voices this past year. Last night I heard a very old woman say my first and last name. I also hear other words, sentences but do not write them down and I forget when I wake up. About 6 months ago, I distinctly heard this as a clairaudio: "This Federally approved Government Program is..." and then I woke up - realizing our govt might be playing around with HAARP technology. Not wanting to bring up controversial issues to this wonderful forum, but I know what I heard. As if I wasn't supposed to hear that part of this 'subliminal conditioning'message they were playing while I slept, but some good govt. Soul decided to let me hear THAT portion of whatever was being aired into my bedroom airwaves to let me know what was going on... Just something to think about, that's all.

Renee,
This does not mean that he is referring to you. Some soul or spirits that linger around on earth become lost souls due to events that caused there death or they are just not a peace with the fact that they are dead. Next time you get to see or talk to this spirit ask him who he is talking about (make sure you are using a kind voice) Let him know that you see him and would like to help. It is probably him trying to deal with his own death instead of saying (you) are that way. Some spirits just need a kind spirit to let them know its ok to move on, they need to know that yes they are dead and that the otherside is waiting for them. Often times in investigations with psychics or those sensative to spirits, these lost souls just need closure.

My family has always been religious and for whatever reason my family has had a lot of spiritual encounters. I've lived in a haunted house before, had premonitions of deaths, I used to hear a man's voice very clearly early in puberty but my nightmares still remain. My nightmares consist of the dead, undead, and dying on a nightly basis in 2 week increments. Last night as I was laying in bed I was kind of in that in between sleep. Not quite deep asleep but not awake. The same manly voice once heard in puberty returned to say," it doesn't matter anymore, you're already dead". For a moment I really thought that I had died but I was able to wake myself up. This voice has been replaying to me over and over today not that it was repeating itself but more of an echo of last nights happenings. I don't know what to do. I'm scared because I've had premonitions of others deaths and hope that this is not one of mine.

Honestly, I rarely hear voices, one time though I did hear *not dead* a person chanting to themselves... And I could hear them. I had my eyes close relaxing and told them it was annoying and to please stop. Then she looked at me and told me she was only saying it inside her head... So sometimes that happens. But I really thought she was saying it outloud because it was so clear and repetitive in my head.

All the women on my family can hear voices too. I started to hear these voices when I was about 12 years old. A lot of people start there abilitys when they turn 12. It's in the Wiccan religion they say when a male of female turns twelve they become more aware of what is around them. These voices that you hear have a reason they are there. Try buying a dream box. (a wooden, similar to a jewelery box, make sure it has a latch.) At night open your box so it can collect what you are dreaming. When you wake up close the box and latch it. To keep the dream with you so you can remember. Search your dream and they should explain the reason this spirit is contacting you.

I do hear voices also. Every night when I fall asleep. I wake up all the sudden and I hear a male and female talking very loud. During the morning like around 1am or so. I have hearing problems. So I thought ok my hearing is messing on me. Then after hearing then I cannot fall back to sleep. The voices sound so close like there on top of my bed or just over the edge of my bed.

Linda - a thought. I'm pretty receptive in that space between sleep and not. But I find it frustrating too. I want to be alert or in my deep sleep. I wonder if that semi-state is just an easy way and you are ready to face it head on. Just a thought. I might be wrong.

frizz - the hubby always knows by my hair how I slept. The not sleeping time is important tho - once, on the freeway, saw a semi-truck. It did not look right to me. It was like a feeling. I went around it at a faster speed then I usually ever reach. Then I looked in the rearview mirror and saw a tire come off the truck and roll across the freeway, about where I would have been. It was like a feeling, almost a voice, telling me to do this passing but this was one of those times that I wasn't sure which... A blend but not urgent. I could have dodged that tire, but it would have scared me.

Thank goodness there are others experiencing the same thing as myself. I tend to find that it occurs when I am reading and it is at that point when you're about to nod off so it's a kind of semi-sleep state. There are usually a combination of female and male voices, and usually none of what they are saying appears to have any relevance. In fact, if I am reading the voices will even repeat a sentence that I have just read. I find the whole thing completely bizarre and I am frustrated because none of it seems to have any reason or relevance. What do they want? Also I sometimes hear noises which I can only describe as resembling the sound of someone trying to tune into a radio frequency. Has anyone else experienced this? I feel confused and isolated because everyone laughs at me and think it's my imagination

Hi, same goes here, I hear a person calling my name, or telling me to do something, but unlike others my caller is female, although I do not recognize the voice to be someone I know. The voice always says my name loudly and then never again for awhile.
Recently I was on the phone with my mom and she went silent, trying to think of something we were talking about and I heard a person whisper "open the door". I am starting to get use to it but it creeps me out so bad, my mom was equally scared, but she has similar things happen as well so... We just shluf it of as ghost who don't know were listening, but after reading the comment about "spirit guides" telling you things it kind of creeps me out.

Hello everyone. When I was in Dallas Texas visiting family, I was sitting in my Uncle Rons apartment on his recliner chair, by myself with the lights all off, and no TV, and it was very quite. I heard a voice whisper my name in my right ear, while I was sitting there. I felt scared and covered my eyes. It never happened again, but about 3 years later, when I was at my mothers house, I was walking from the living room to the kitchen, and I turned to go toward the sink, and it felt like I bumped into something behind me, I looked, and felt positive that nothing was there. I believed it to be an angel following me around, then I thought it was a spirit, and I couldn't make my mind up. Still to this day I am not sure what it is. I'm 23 years old now, its been about 4-5 years since all of that happened. This morning my step dad told me, that I had a conversation with him, while I was asleep about using a ruler to break into a room, in Jonathan Alder Highschool, where I use to go to school, in the Plain City Ohio area. But he said I didn't make much sense. I honestly do not remember speaking to anyone, I don't even remember having a dream, if any chance I was having one. Its very weird, but also very interesting, what happens to me. Also sometimes when I'm angry I can't control my anger, and I hear horrible thoughts in my head, the thoughts turn into feelings, and then I feel like I need to do what I'm feeling. Once I was angry as someone, very badly, and I felt like I needed to harm them very badly, but what I had in mind, scared me! I told myself in my head, that I needed to hang them on a meat rack and burn them with a torch, then I told myself I need to hang them on a hook, and stab raw meat on their legs, and bring wolfs to eat their legs... I've never actually did anything, I usually walk away when someone makes me mad, but that is horrible. I thought to myself, after I've calmed down, that I have got to be a nut case, if I even think of doing that to somebody. And I was very scared of myself. Then I realized, well if I think its crazy, and I know its not right, then I'm obviously not crazy, and everything will be okay. And now everything is okay, I deal with my anger very well on my own, no help. But sometimes the thoughts come back. I've even wished horrible painful death on people that I've talked to, and they made me mad. In Highschool I didn't take crap from no body, but I always tried to lie my way out of trouble, when I got caught. 24/7 I always feel a negative horrible feeling down on me, and I can't describe it better than that. Sometimes the negative feeling causes pain in my body, all over, and all I feel like doing is laying down. Now I have anxiety attacks, but I Don't take medicine for it, because I believe that I can fix it on my own, I just have to try my hardest. If you'd like to talk with me about these things, and have some solutions, or info I might need to know, please by all means, email me at russ [at] comfortable.com. Thanks.

Hi guys! I've heard voices before as well, but only one time. I was sitting on my couch watching t.v. When I heard voices in the room. I thought, you know, maybe interference coming from the television, so I turned it off. I heard the voices again and thought, you know, somehow still the t.v. So, I unplugged it. Then I picked up a book and started reading it. The next time I heard the voices, they were right next to my ear. There were a lot of them, all mingled together, sounded like male and female. I was instantly nauseous.

I'll tell you what my mom told me that night when I called her, freaked out. She said "What makes you think that anything in this world, visible or invisible has more power over you? You were given the most powerful gift of all - the gift of the spoken word. Nothing is more powerful than you just because it simply exists. Just because it wants you, does not mean that it can have you. What did you think it meant in the Bible when it instructs you to say "Get thee behind me Satan? It doesn't have to apply to Satan only. It can apply to anything in your life that you don't want to be there..."

I didn't find "Get thee behind me Satan" particularly helpful, so I came up with "If you're friend, you can stay. If you're foe, I ask that you go..."

Hi If your hearing voices then I would say they are spirits you are hearing. I guess they don't know you can hear them say hello to them. They will be shocked and they reply with something like can you hear us or they just all of a sudden stop talking. I have experienced similar to this. 😊

hello. My concern isthis... I just moved into a apt about 2 mos. Ago. My friend has been staying with me here. She sleeps on the couch. About a month ago I would say for about 3 days this 1 picture on my wall kept falling down at nite. I went out into the living room one nite about 1:30 am becuase I woke up to someone saying my name very loudly in my ear and I went into the living room and my friend was awake because the picture had just fallen and the cable went out. It has since then stopped. However last nite and like 3 other times I have woken up suddnely to what sounds like someone a male saying my name very loudly in my ear or by my ear. This is the weird thing. I havn;t told my roommate this becuase I was thinking oh my god am I going crzy? What's going on until she woke up this morning and asked if I yelled her name and I said no why and she said becuase she just got woken up by someone saying rachele really loud in her ear! I told her about that I have experienced the same thing and now we are scared! It has just been a deep voice that wakes me up and says stephanie. When I do wake up I feel confused becuase I don't know if I was dreaming or I really heard someone but there is never anyone tthere and now she has heard it to!

Hmm, well I know I have heard voices in my head. I was lying down but not really sleeping and heard what sounded like a female voice but could not make out to what it was saying. I was quite confused and called my friend who was in the other room and asked if he spoke and if he was just in the living room. He was obviously in the sleep room and was quite amazed by it too. Another time heard a faint whisperlike voice was saying something in a sentence, but didn't hear what was being said or forgot the last part. But, one really really neat thing, is when I heard a voice so clear it almost sounded um robotic-like but not too much or somewhat computerized (no my computer wasn't talking, it wasn't even turned on which was right in my room where I was sleeping). It was a male's voice. It practically freaked me out at first for a second. I was a little bit baffled and thought "no way, I did not just hear that". At the same time I guess there was a sense of calm as if by being present speaking to me. It was soo clear and no body was there and I know my cats do not talk either. I was so angry after the car accident I had because I did not feel protected wondering how come like my guardian angel(s) have always protected me, but this time it was just different. I had some pain and soreness on my chest lower rib and neck was whiplash. And, I heard this voice right after that. It sounded like it was right next to me! Do all angels or spirit guides sound exactly human like us, or is there somehow even a slightly different tone, DO ANY KIND OF ANGELS SOUND ALMOST LIKE ROBOTS IN PERFECT SYNCH? This is something I am just dying to know and hoping someone knows.
Oh, also I saw my fave siamese cat appear to me from foot to head when she went to Heaven in sparkle-like vision. Seems like my mom and I have the ability to see ghosts, my friend cannot see spirits but can get premonitions. Well, she turned Catholic too bad it would've been so cool to have and make use of this gift! But, the choice was hers. It sucks when people have the gift but are either afraid or go by their religious teachings, etc they are not able to access their gift because of this. Sometimes it's hard to even talk to them about your supernatural experiences, so that sucks too.
Oh, by the way ... When I got into that horrifying car accident (whereas this car and I collided there were three other cars involved in separate accidents, all of our cars were totaled, and THANK GOD no one was seriously injured), well that is when I didn't pray. I have always prayed all my life before I went out, so that is interesting. I guess this means we should never miss a day since look what can happen. But, I am not basing this directly on prayer, it is just my own faith based-opinion. But, it still wouldn't hurt to pray daily. (0:

Thank you all for your replies. Fudgybunny I really appreciate your response. Gwanwyn I am not upset at your response I have been to the doctors and they thought that I was just depressed and gave me medication for it and I did not like the way they made me feel so I stopped taking them. After I posted my story on this site the voices were trying harder than ever for me to hear them. I will try meditation and see if that helps I will let you know for sure if it helps.

Thanks again

First off, I'd like to say something about the comment that Gwanwyn left. Usually, you're only crazy, if you don't consider being crazy a possibility. So if you've asked yourself "Am I crazy?", then you're probably not. Now, about the voices. That's called clairaudience, or the power to hear beyond the range of normal perception. Ghost voices can come in here. If you want to hear what they are saying, then pick at day where you can have an hour to yourself. Make sure that you are alone and in a quiet environment. Sit down and clear your mind. Be still and meditate, try to figure out what to voices are saying. The easiest way to do this is to concentrate on hearing either your heartbeat or your own silent breaths. When you breathe, breathe long deep breaths from your stomach. Inhale through your nose and exhale through you mouth. You can get more oxygen to your brain this way, so you think better and are healthier. You will hear better this way. Slowly, shift your attention to the voices and pick one. Focus on that one. Pretend the other voices aren't there. Listen carefully. You will probably be able to hear it. Even if you can only pick up words, that's good. Write them down and see if they all revolve around one subject. This way, you may at least be able to figure out what they are talking about. That should answer some questions. As for the truck incident, a family member has had nearly the same thing happen. They couldn't tell whether the voice was male or female though. So if its the same case with you, then my guess is that its the voice of you guardian angel. Then, about the dreams, well, if you have ever seen a dog sleep, you'll notice that they sometimes move their feet really fast, as if they were running. This indicates that they must be running in their dream. I think that this is what is happening to you. Just as people talk in their sleep, I think you might be moving in your sleep. Good luck and I hope I helped. :)

Frizz, this has been happening to me too and my husband always says, "I don't hear anything". I will lay down to go to sleep (he's already asleep) and I will hear muffled voices. I assume a tv or radio is left on somewhere, so I get up and check them all - and nothing's on. It sound like it's coming from the corner of our bedroom that the tv is in, but if I walk over there I don't hear it anymore. I strain to listen, but can't even understand what they are saying!

Hey. Similar things like that happens to me also. I sometimes hear things in my head that tells me to do something or to stop cause somethings going to happen. At first I thought I was just nuts but then I found out about spirits guides and how the whisperin your ear sometimeswarning or just putting silly thoughts in your head. I'm still not sure. My family *mostly my mother* Has experiences like that, she can see things and hear things and stuff like that so I guess its in the family. I'm only 12 and already this stuff is happening >.>
Like Lenora said you should meditate and clear your thoughts and try to listen close to those voices.

I don't know how to control it or tune in on a certain voice or anything, but I hear voices as well. They don't tell me to do directly, they just say my name. Sometimes the voice is so sudden and clear and seems so real that I think there's someone behind me, but there's not. One such incident was when I was resting my head on my end of a long log while my mom's boyfriend was using a chainsaw on the other end. My mom's voice suddenly said my name right behind me in a tone of voice that I took to mean "get your head off the log when its being cut!" I jumped and looked around, but my mom was in the house at the time, and no one was behind me. For some reason, all the voices are of people I know...

Well, the voices could be your subconscious trying to tell you stuff you ought to know (=psychic ability). But before considering this possibility, you should perhaps see a doctor about this. I don't want to offend you or something, but I think it could also be a serious illness of the brain (schizophrenia or anything like it). I work in a hospital, and see "people who hear voices" all the time. Please, don't be angry, this just came to my mind when I read your story. Best wishes and good luck.

hey, lenora here
you should definately try to meditate. That will help to clear your thoughts and make the voices more controlled and understandable after time instead of them flooding your thoughts. I know what you mean as far as having dreams so real it's hard to believe that all that time you were sleeping, when realy you wake up and it feels like you just ran a marathon! Well, I hope the meditating works out for you
