Return to the psychic experience A Christian Psychic?

Hi there,

I am also a very "devout Christian". To me, that means I read my Bible, pray throughout my day, attend church, and try my best to follow God's commands.

I believe I have a prophetic gifting, meaning I am obsessed with finding and declaring truth. God has frequently given me dreams, less-frequently visions, and "words" concerning people and their situations. I know some things before they happen, and other things I know before I am told. I have found though, that the less God-obsessed I am, the less frequently He can speak to me. In other words, when I slack off in reading my Bible or going to church, or ministering to others or having personal time with God, I don't get those dreams, words, etc.

I find it interesting how many people are on this site that keep these experiences to themselves. Maybe I am extraordinarily blessed because I have found that the more I open up about my experiences, the more other people share their "odd" experiences. I do not go to a charismatic church. I attend a very conservative Presbyterian church.

I encourage you to pray for more gifting in this area but I caution you to understand that this is not an easy gifting. If you want whatever God wants for you, you will be happy whether you have dreams and visions or not. The dreams and words God gives me are another way He speaks to me, but they usually reveal something I need to change in my own life. When it comes to others, much caution should be taken because we can be quite judgmental and opinionated on our own. We do not want to represent our words as God's.

The flip side is that in seeking and upholding truth (I believe as defined in the Bible) you will make a lot of people angry. Even when spoken in the most diplomatic of terms, people in general avoid the truth because it typically means they need to change. And who likes change?

Be careful also to not call these gifts "powers". There are both God and demonic forces at work in the world. These are not opposites, because God is bigger but, Satan is extremely deceptive and powerful and can easily turn us towards pride in our new-found "abilities". If we are thinking "look what I can do", red flags should be going up. If the point in reaching out to detect others' feelings is so you might pray for them, and you feel God has specifically told you to do this, that's one thing. But experimenting and testing your powers is another (occultic).

God has been calling me to study other religions and occult practices for the past three years now. When I began, I too heard voices whispering my name in the same manner you described. In my case, I knew it was not God calling me (God does not creep you out) and prayed for help and spoke against them (again, please be careful when doing this). I did not pay them much heed and they went away after the 4th occurrence.

As far as deja vu goes, I'm still trying to figure that one out. It happens often to me, but I am not sure if it really means anything or not. A person can find meaning in anything if they look hard enough.

Also, when it comes to animals I have never felt "connected" with them per se, but animals like cats and dogs which normally don't go to strangers (so their owners say) almost always come to me and are affectionate. Maybe they can sense an animal lover when they see one;)

Consider checking out some Christian books on prophecy. Like I wrote earlier, when it comes to experiences like these, there can be a fine line between God and the enemy. Research and talking to others, and especially bringing your concerns to God in prayer are your best bets for figuring out what God wants you to do with these gifts.

We are all spiritual beings. It just depends on where/what (God/demons) your spirit is attuned to. I would question any ability that does not help others in some way. Also, my dreams words for others have almost exclusively applied to other Christians, rather than non-believers, and some of those included warnings, encouragement, and a message for me to be praying for them.

Please email me at bigloumedia [at] gmail.com if you would like to talk further.

Sincerely,

Loura

I'm on this train too. Comes from the maternal line.:) My dad and his side would say I'm crazy (they're those judgemental Bible thumpers). I don't speak to them anymore. My mom's side accepts it. It's who we are. Heck. Even my church has some acceptance of it. You're not psychic because you were born bad or anything else. God touched you. I guess my thing is, wouldn't it be worse to reject the gift He gave you? Keep it strong!

Don't worry,I'm Christian too. Your not alone, I felt the exact same way. Just believe that God gave you your gifts to help others and glorify in him. Now I won't lie, but it's hard. But keep trying.I'm currently doing that=)

I hear voices shouting my name when I'm about to fall asleep also. They're not a chorus of voices, just one that jars or startles me awake. It doesn't happen all the time, and often it is familiar voices.
I think that reading my story Rare and Unsure may be of some help to you, I think you can relate to it in someways.
Stutterbubs, we both share the same experience of being shouted awake, maybe you'd find my story helpful. You both can comment too, I'd love to hear if it helped:)

I have always heard my name called when I'm falling asleep, like a shout that startles me awake. I never thought about it until you mentioned it. I thought it was part of a dream! That would make sense now though, ahha because I am a developing medium.

Also, I have an intense animal connection as well. They have much purer souls than humans, I must say.

Hey, I am also Christan and can feel other peoples' feelings too. Your not alone. When I was little, instead, I used to "hullucinate". But now that I'm older, I understand that what I saw when I was younger was real! I can feel other feelings that are not mine. But I don't know who's they are. Like sometimes, I cry for no reason, even though I was happy a minite ago. Also, I have dreams that come true. Sometimes, I have visions during the day. They just randomly apppear. I am also scared because I am Christan too and this is probally against my belief. But don't worry, your not alone 😉

I have the same feelings with deja vu moments. My family had a fight recently about a party and I had dreamt of it like a day before and then it hit me when I went to hand my mom a notebook, I realised I had visioned that the night before and I am also christian but it is a real big possibility that I am psychic because my great grandma was a psychic and I might have her genes because I mostly take after my moms side of the family and I think I possibly might have taken after her. But glad to know I'm not the only one with dreams. I've never heard voices that I remember. I might have had paranormal encounters but I'm not 100% sure.

I know what you mean about feeling alone. I'm 14 years old too.I'm a catholic, and my grandparents are VERY religious. I'm a psychic too. I believe that my abilities are a gift from god, so don't think of them as evil. As long as you don't do anything evil, your not. Use your abilities to help others, you'll feel a lot better!:)

Okay, let me just tell you something.

A lot of what World religions teach you is that everything psychic-natured is evil.

Let me just clear something up for you.

EVERYONE ON THIS EARTH IS PSYCHIC.

Not a lot of people are able to admit this, but yes, it's true!
Psychic phenomena has been around for soooooo LONG!

Believe me when I say that Everyone has had one psychic experience in their lifetime.

Most people are in denial to their psychic abilities because they write them off as "coincidence" or "imagination" or "blahblahblah"...

TRUST your intuition and the information your receive!

-- If a medium or psychic say's that they have "gifts" that only a few people of "their kind of people" posses. They're wrong.

Everyone has junk DNA right? Well, then everyone is psychic, on and off.

Please, don't let anyone tell you that psychic phenomena is wrong... Because in 2012, everyone will feel vibrations and frequencies, and everyone will see through different eyes.

Everything is changing leading up to 2012, and many of the people reading this know what I'm talking about.

Just google things like: "2012 dna activation" to get started.!

I am a christian too. I can sometimes sense what animals want just by looking at them, but its only a few of them, not every animal I see. I understand them and sometimes I can sense what their past was, like I can read them, just like I can do with people, but its not as often.

Sounds like you've got some real talents. It's not uncommon to be christian and psychic, just keep it to yourself for now, practice it, and don't believe anything the bible says or the priests say. 'Cause I asked a preist (I'm psychic so I get what your going through I'm forced to go to a chatholic school) what the bible said and he told me anyone who believed in it was going to hell, so I am not christian. But more power to you, hope I helped.

Ouch,

My boyfriend is christian and he doesn't rebuke me for seeing Spirits. Also he doesn't think its weird I can read peoples minds and transfer emotions. He thinks its a gift god gave me. Which if I was christian I'd probably think so too. But I wouldn't just go tell everyone either, I have told a total of three people, my mom, my boyfriend, and best friend. I got my gifts from my mom so she understands. My boyfrind helps me manage my emotion spikes and my best friend is psychic so its information for people you know you can trust.

Hope that helps,
Tess, ❤

Hello,

We have no clue how a religion could possibly be of any interference with your gifts. As a matter of fact, lots of us out there are Presbyterian, Mormon, Spiritualist, and even Muslim. Some religions even explain how psychic gifts are God-Given and should be embraced! Don't worry, you're not turning your back on your beliefs, and you sure as hell aren't alone.
