A Fleeting Impression Of Being Protected

One night I woke up to feel something watching me. I never saw any "ghostly" form, and I easily drifted back to sleep, but the next day I felt him watching still. I became extremely paranoid and frightened because I'd never experienced anything like that before.

In an attempt to find a reason for his presence, I searched things like "protective spirit" but didn't find anything worth while.

So after a few days I attempted communicating with the spirit. I asked for a name and he seemed to want me to call him Jack. Other than that I received no communication. I only had this calming feeling that he was there to protect me.

For a while I was feeling negative energy around me, but when Jack was there I could just focus on him and it all vanished. And now I'm left with the feeling that I knew him, like he was an old friend I forgot.

Truthfully, I don't know what Jack was doing. He seemed to just be a presence that was there all the time. Not obviously good, not bad, just calming in a strange way I'd never felt before.

Even now as I write about Jack I...feel...his energy, I guess you could call it. It's like the way you feel when a huge weight is lifted from your shoulders and you can just sigh with relief.

I'm really just searching for any explanation of this. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? And no stuff about the devil or possession because it's nothing like that. It's just a feeling I have, but a feeling that is strong enough that I won't ever forget it or dismiss it as superstition.

Please comment with any similar experiences you've had. I really appreciate it.
