Memories That Don't Belong To Me

For as long as I can remember I've heard voices. They aren't clear, or very loud; just loud enough to gain my attention. I know that I'm the only one hearing them because no one else ever seems to acknowledge that anyone even made a sound. When I was younger I used to always run down the stairs to find my mom or dad, thinking that it was just one of them calling for me. 8 out of 10 times they looked at me like I was insane before telling me that they in fact didn't call for me and that I was just hearing things.

As I got older, the frequency of the times I'd hear my name increased and with it the amount of words I could hear increased as well. They are never clear enough for me to pick out anything of any help so most days I just try to block it out. On top of this I have memories, but these aren't mine.

That sounds normal because most people have memories. I have MY memories, but I also have memories that I know I wasn't there before. My parents say they are just vivid dreams but I'm awake when I'm remembering. I remember everything from these almost misplaced memories. I remember the smells, the tastes, textures, people, what was said, what happened, so on and so forth.

There is one memory where my parents and I were at my father's work party for Christmas. I was upstairs with the rest of the kids because I was about 9 at the time. I was wearing a green velvet dress. One of the older boys there, he was probably about 13, asked me if I wanted to see something cool. Me being young and naive I agreed and went into his room with him. I hear the lock click as he shuts the door, and then he flicks the light switch. I feel him touch me as soon as the light goes off. I scream and I hit him. I fumble the lock and run downstairs but I never tell anyone. I know this didn't happen because we never went to any Christmas parties. Unfortunately, it doesn't stop when I fall asleep.

I have constant nightmares, they occur anywhere from four nights to every night of the week. In every single one, I can't wake up until I finally die in my dream. But, then when I wake up I can still see, smell, taste touch, and hear everything that happened in the dream. That usually only lasts a minute or so, but it's every day, has been since I was about 5 years old.

I just want to know if there is anyone out there with similar experiences. I want to know what's going on, if I'm insane or something more.

A friend of mine recently started having flashbacks like some sort of daydreams she says in which she has memories of four young men, just having fun, being chased by a dog sitting in an ugly couch always smiling, and then one of them kills them self and in some memories the other three friends get tattooes in his name and in another memory there's a mother crying grasping a shirt from the kid that committed suicide, I want to help her and I felt intrigued by it, if anyone can help email me at: buchon_punk [at] hotmail.com

i have similar events but mine all happen when I'm awake, and all seem to be from different events or points of views but well before my time, they all occur randomly also, it can be anywhere from a week to several months before I get another memory, but they all seem to be quite accurate, and I'm not sure how I have them if they are from other lives or not, or if there's even a name for this. They all also seem to be from different views, such as some are first person perspectives and some are third. Or some are just remembering facts of a previous time that I know I didn't learn durring my life.

Dear Nutmeg,

You would do well to remember that YOU have the ability to decline any and all of these invitations to listen to others' voices, memories, stories. By saying,"NO," you are not permanently turning off your ability to hear, but you have to establish some guidelines for yourself - YOU are in control of when, what and who.

Just today, I was driving along a river which recently took the life of a young boy. All of a sudden, I saw him standing by the river asking, "why didn't anyone save me," and "what am I supposed to do know?"
I also kept hearing, "re-integration through music" repeating over and over. I later read that the boy's memorial service was held today at the same time I heard him talking, and that the service was a "gathering of a song-circle, music and folk singing."

I think one of the lessons I learn repeatedly is that there is a process that goes along with each death of a person, and that the soul demands an intensely personal process for transformation, and that we as living, empathic people need to help remind ourselves and others that this is a hugely important part of death and beyond.

Honor your gift, but don't let it run your life.

nutmeg2790,

I've sort of experienced the same thing. But unlike you, I know what's going on. For me, I'm remembering my past lives. What happened way before the current me was born.

I think you might be experiencing the same thing. But like the others said, keep a dream journal just in case. See, in your dream, if you're here in the modern times, or way before. Try to see your surroundings, and you might just know what's going on.

Nutmeg2790... I would keep a dream journal also and pay particular attention to the clothing, cars, anything that may indicate its from the past. If its older cars and such you might begin to figure out if it relates to a past life or a spirit trying to tell you about them/you. If its you in a modern setting then its something a little different in the way of communicating... It tends to be a little more hostile because your kind of being used in the dreams instead of being shown.

constant nightmares are not part of being psychic. You may be channelling another spirit but you shouldn't be experiencing frequent nightmares over it. I would keep a journal of the elements in your dreams and visions and get a copy of THE ELEMENT ENCYCLOPEDIA OF 20, 000 DREAMS by theresa cheung and see if you can decipher the different parts of your dreams/visions. I sense there is a message there for you. You will learn what dying in your dreams means too- something most people don't expereince on an ongoing basis. Good luck to you!
