Several summers ago I spent a day swimming in a river here in New Jersey. There is something beautiful about this particular river. When you look at your reflection the light just radiates out.
After a few hours of swimming and sunning I started to make my way home.
As I drove I encountered some rain. I remember just feeling so content but still far from home.
I drove for about an hour I got ahead of the storm.
After returning home I greeted my family
(Who I had invited to go swimming but they had declined). We prepared a meal and enjoyed the rest of the day indoors.
It is now bedtime and I say goodnight to my children. My then husband and I get in bed.
He falls asleep right away. I am laying there listening to the thunder when I see a figure standing in the room near me.
He wasn't a ghost or didn't seem to be.
My best guess is that he was the spirit of lightning? I really don't know. His appearance was that of a Native American Warrior.
I am just not clear on how or why he was there.
Somehow I feel like he is connected to that river.
Several times now I have seen figures when a storm approaches.
Usually I have just seen them pass by. The incidence above was noteworthy, being that it was in my room. And I was a little frightened that actual lightening might strike. Egads!
I spoke about this with a Lakota man I was taking lessons from. He only said it was meant for me to see.
It makes me think that our world is full of things we often do not see. Perhaps I will read a story someday that will explain what I saw.
