White Hawk

I'd like to quickly introduce myself as I am new to this site. I am South African born, currently residing in Johannesburg. I am 28 years old, an artist and up and signed with your sister ghost site.

My mother was 'mhlophe', which is our native tongue for Dreamer. This is not necessarily a witch doctor, but their dreams tend to come true. She also received messages from the deceased through dreams.

I have inherited her gift, but mine is not as powerful as hers. I try not to entertain them cause they always seem to be negative and depressing.

I don't know if I can get assistance but I need some kind of explanation for a dream I had last night, hope this is the right forum. I now wish I had written it down when I woke up but this is what I can remember, sorry about that, you'll just have try bear with me.

In my dream it was daytime. The sky was cloudless, perfect summer weather. I was outside in an open field or a garden (not sure) and I was with a couple of people, can't remember who they were but my older sister was standing next to me. For some reason I looked up and I saw a huge white bird flying in circles over my head. As it started descending I realized it was a white hawk. A beautiful one that seemed to have glittering golden eyes.

It flew down gracefully and landed on my sister and I's shoulder. One leg on each shoulder. My sister didn't panic but simply took a step away from it and it came to rest both its legs on my shoulder. I remember feeling its weight but the claws didn't hurt me. When I looked up at it I realized how big it was and started getting scared. But didn't want to show it my fear.

It perched there for a while then flew up again but not too far. It seemed to be flying around us. I quickly walked into the house cause I had the feeling that it wanted to come back to me.

It's not a dramatic dream, but considering we don't have hawks in South Africa and I've never laid eyes on one before I find it very weird that I should be dreaming about one or let it disturb me the way it is right now.

I tried googling but came up with nothing satisfactory, hence I'm now here.

Thanks

So to summarise what I think: You will experience something (spiritual) (meaning white hawk) , but you shouldn't get distracted by this happening in reaching your goal in life (meaning golden eyes)

Well from what I can gather, according to the old tribes in America the hawk was a spirit animal and had several meanings: It was the messenger of the spirit world, It was the power of focus, It meant: Take the lead when the time is right, It was also the powers to see/clear vision and a strong connection with spirits/increased spiritual awareness.

There's not much knows about specifically white Hawks... But from my own spiritual-experiences a white bird stands for helping and in some way pureness. One website states about hawks: Just like the hawk can see in great detail at great distances, you maybe able to perceive what others do not. You may have an affinity with piercing life great mysteries and divination in one form or another.

Hawks in acient traditions have a lot to do with death but so do a lot of other birds, I guess it represents freedom the most... So you see it is very difficult to pin down the meaning of this white hawk, even normal hawks can have different meanings (death, clear vision, spiritual connection, freedom).

After researching a bit I noticed that albino/white hawks don't have yellow/gold eyes but rather blue/brown eyes. So I researched a little about what yellow stands for and next to the common hope and happiness (since it's the color of sunshine) I found something about the meaning of yellow to different cultures: In different cultures yellow has different meanings. In some cultures, yellow represents peace. In Egypt yellow was worn to signify the dead. In Japan, yellow stands for courage. In India, yellow is the color of the merchants.

Anyway it has different meanings... I also noticed that gold stands for wisdom+magic and yellow for intellect+learning something new. However be carefull gold is very well known to be the color that illuminates the path toward your goal, most likely you will be distracted by some event and it is a pre-warning that you should keep think about your true goal in life rather than getting side-tracked.

It is very rare that these two (the white hawk and the gold eyes) are so apart from each other but I think there's some serious lesson for you here after reading all this and seeing the pattern... I hope you will find out+ not get distracted don't forget to keep your true goal within sight and don't lose yourself in the happenings around you.

JuneChild... Well the dreamer is not bound by distance... A white hawk... To me... Means a spiritual hawk not bound by distance It can fly from realm to realm... And with Gold eyes again to me signifies special sight... Better put... Spiritual insight. The hawk came not of this world but from a spiritual realm. Its job was to tell you "your it" you will carry the gift forward. It picked the hawk form to convey insight with spirituality... Well you wouldn't have taken a chicken seriously!

Is that what a white hawk means? Sorry if I'm going to ask stupid questions but from what I've read, seen on television, it's more of a Native American culture right? Or is it universal because like I said, we don't have hawks here. I think it's the type of bird that's bothering me more than anything.

JuneChild... I think that it means you and your sister had the chance to fully accept the power or gift... Your sister did not accept... Looks like you did... Or you are prepared to accept the gift.
