I Hear Voices Before Falling Into Deep Sleep

For a while, I was hearing voices, mainly men speaking at night before I fall into a deep sleep. I've heard whispers like it was being spoken directly into my ear as well as chairs sounding like they were scraping across the floor in my kitchen. I've even heard a loud, shrill ear piercing sounding whistle and footsteps. My husband will still be awake and I ask him if he heard that noise and he just looks at me like I'm crazy. I'm the only one who hears it. It mainly scares me, though now I haven't heard anything in a few months, I'm still curious. I prayed to stop hearing the voices and now for the moment anyway, it seems as though they have gone away.

Other strange things have happened to me as well. I was in the shower and heard a loud slam to the floor one day. I looked out of the shower to see what happened and it was a small painting that had fallen which is on the wall in my bathroom. This painting is very light, I'd say less than a pound, and couldn't have made such a loud slam by simply falling. On closer inspection the nail was bent, like it was hit with force and I could see a mark on the wall going down to the picture that looked as though someone stood there with their hand on the wall and swiped down at the picture with force making it fall. I know it wasn't anyone in my family who had done this because no one else was home. I was alone. This obviously really frightened me, but I can't explain what it was. This happened along the time that I hear the voices at night. Am I going crazy or do I have a ghost? I don't hear voices during the daytime while I'm wide awake. It only happens at night!

Although I think your experience is more than this, sometimes the sounds you hear when falling into sleep are "hypnagogic sounds". It happens as your brain is testing the body to see if it is really asleep (or the brain testing the brain?). You know there are lots of built-in safeguards the body has so that the body isn't awake as you are dreaming, and therefore moving while dreaming.

This becomes a lot more pronounced if you are very frightened and are afraid to go to sleep, because your mind is staying alert while your body is relaxing.

This happens when you try, intentionally, to get in a mind-awake/body-asleep kind of state in order to have an out of body experience. People trying for that are often fooled by sounds of footsteps down the hall that don't exist, or alarms or phones that aren't there--almost anything that you would not assume were "normal" for that time of day or night.

But in your case, you may well have other things going on regarding your boyfriend.

It's been a while since you posted this--Did you ever decide what it was?

Ok question! One thing I failed to mention, I don't really know if it means anything, but I had a boyfriend who disappeared on a fishing trip several years ago. They never found him or his friends, just the boat capsized at sea, but never any bodies. It was devastating for me, 3 of them were my friends but I loved him. I am married now and though I love my husband I still think about him very often. When our daughter was a baby, she would be sleeping in her crib and it was always when my husband and I would start fooling around in another bedroom that my daughter would wake up screaming, like she was terrified, it always happened when we were about to be intimate. So many other things have happened. Could this have any relation to him? Or am I just reading into things too much?

I've had some weird things happen to me as well. Things I can't really explain. I try not to let these things frighten me. I also try to rule out any other reasons for the occurrence. I did a reading for a friend who had his mother pass just recently. I have been having odd occurrences since I spoke with him about it. One night my dog ran down the hallway barking blood murder at 232 in the morning. I jumped out of bed and looked all over the house. I sat for a moment to think what it could have been. I looked outside and nothing. (sign 1), the next thing you know my phone starts going off and I can't turn off the alarm. For over 15 minutes this occurred with no luck. (sign 2) ok at this point I can kind of think this could go either way. So I am lying in bed, looking at the ceiling and my entire bed jerked and bedroom floor. (sign 3). Ok I'm awake I said out loud. I didn't take it as threatening at all.
I know sometimes spirits will try what they can to get my attention. However this visitor has been there every night for 3 days now. I'm still trying to figure out what it's there for. Last night my dog was curled up on the floor next to the bed. It was almost midnight, and he yelped out of the blue and looked at his back leg. I felt a spirit just frightened him and he yelped. The next thing that happened was my old phone I just disconnected and was out battery was beeping last night, so I turned the phone off and took the battery out. At 6am in the morning the alarm on that phone went off. This spirit seems to like electronics.
If you do get frightened I always say a prayer which helps. You can also let the spirit know they are unwelcomed to stay. I ask only for light to come through, loved ones, guides, and angels.
I do pick up on things before I fall alseep, probably that's why I don't rest for more than 5 hours a night. I have to ignore what's coming through to try and sleep.

Yes. If it is a spirit it might be trying to get close to you or a spirit guide that wants to talk to you but not frighten you so it is using a calming and used to voice that sounds like your boyfriend.

Hey serenity. There are two possibilities about your experience. First is that a spirit is copying your boyfriend's voice to freak you out or something like that. Second possibility is that you share a strong bond with him that you can hear his thoughts. Some kind of telepathy. Well let's see what others have to say about your experience and thanks for sharing your experience with everyone. Take care and bye 😁

DeeW, and to everyone else, I am in need of your thoughts, opinions, and experiences. I am twenty-one years old I have recently just had my first experience with hearing things, and while looking up things online afterwords, I came across your post on this website. First off I need to say that my boyfriend is in tune to certain things. Earlier this evening as we were falling asleep he left to use the restroom. The lights in my room were off. When he re-entered, I'm laying in my bed in the dark, and heard the door open and close. After about five seconds he said my name. I responded with "what", and after another five seconds and a second "what" he responded with an "Are you ok?"He came over to the bed, and was deeply concerned when I looked confused. I asked him why he didn't respond and he said he was re-adjusting his eyes to the darkness. I brought up the fact that then why did he say my name. He did not say my name. After a brief "freakout" period he calmed me down, and we eventually tried going to sleep, though with the lights on (my idea, I was not going to sleep with the lights out again after that). About an hour later, he's asleep, I'm still trying to get there. That' when it happened again, only it was something saying/whispering my name right into my ear. The thing was it sounded exactly like my boyfriends voice whispering my name straight into my ear. The second it happened I jumped and rolled over, noticing my boyfriend was dead asleep, I screamed, he jumped, I told him what happened. I just want to figure out the possibilities of what happened, what it could have been, and what it could have meant.

Hi!

Your not the only one! I hear the voices at night too! I can sometimes remember what they say but like you it's just before I go into a deep sleep so I usually forget!

Sometimes it's like you can hear a tv on but it's in another room and it's muffled? But it's the spirits you can hear in your head. Sometimes it's a little scary when someone shouts at me and I wake up with a start! My boyfriend thinks I'm nuts when I suddenly jump!

Anyway your not the only one! Crazy stuff 😆

There are 7 heavens the lower is the astral plains, it is in this plain that many speak with poeple on the other side. The astral plain is the heavenly waiting room where many will go to, and only a few can go beyond.
In this plain we are given a choice to stay or come back and try again.
Heaven and earth are becoming as one, no more heaven no more earth as we know it.
The wall is thinning due to the two emerging, and more and more people are doing paranormal things, it's only because we are uniting. In the scripture it states a new jerusalem will come down from above, and every eye will see God. (Revelations)
Also when you listen to these voices, ask them questions and have a pen and paper with you. 😊 ❤

Thanks Gerry and Winter_Solace for your remarks. It is nice to have someones ideas on all of this without making me feel like I'm crazy! Usually I can't make out what they are saying, kind of like when someone is speaking in the next room and you can't hear exactly what is being said, you just hear a murmuring of voices. However, I have heard my name whispered directly into my ear before, while I'm lying in bed, which makes me jump right up. Other than that, I can't tell what's being said. Gerry, what do you mean by the many dimensions coming to a close?

Here is another theory never mentioned before. There are many dimensions, and I feel that all is coming to a close and the dimensional walls are getting thinner, allowing us to here them?
Just a thought. 😐

Wow that's very interesting. It could be that you have abilities and they are starting to awaken. The spirits around you are reacting to that awakening, perhaps. There are probably evil spirits amidst the area you're in, and they will try to make your life miserable (like moving things around and making noises, like poltergeists). What do these people say before you sleep?
