A Scared And Unwilling Medium

So this is the first time I've ever posted practically anything remotely close to a story on the internet and in most cases, I would hesitate to put this out anywhere as it does not directly deal with me; however, it seems as though there's hardly anywhere else to turn. This will probably end up being a long entry but please bear with me because I, as well as my sister, need help.

Let's start from the beginning. I'm 19 years old and have a 16 year old sister (who will be the subject of this entry) and we consider ourselves to be relatively normal teens. I've personally had a few odd experiences--ghostly encounters, premonitions, what have you--but it is my sister that has been experiencing the most activity, many of which have been far from pleasant.

When we were younger, my sister and I shared a room together. We had our beds pushed closely against one another (our room was small) so it was relatively easy to hear if the other moved. Well, as I've recently found out, my sister used to see dark figures surrounding her bed in the middle of the night. They would come in from our door or the closet and just stand there, staring at her. They weren't totally visible. It was more of a silhouette she would see, but they were of all shapes and sizes. Some seemed to be women and others men, some were dressed elegantly while others seemingly wore more casual wear. They would do this every night, surround her bed and watch her. They never attempted to touch her and she really wasn't scared but that was only because she figured this sort of thing was normal. She just assumed that I used to see these figures as well, but I never saw anything of the like. I was a sound sleeper. Well this continued to happen until she turned 13 and moved into a separate room. That's when this "activity" became less frequent but more intense.

It's hard to really put everything that's happened since then in total chronological order so these may be kind of sporadic but I'll do my best. She moved into a room right next to mine after our oldest sister moved out. Things seemed to be okay for awhile. She didn't see the dark figures around her bed anymore but small, subtle things began to happen. There would be knocks on the walls (which I heard also, but may be attributed to rats) and near her head. The door to her closet would open randomly on its own and the lights would turn on every now and then. Then came the dreams.

She had always felt weird about the closet, like something bad or significant happened in there. Well, she started having these dreams about a young boy who was strangled, killed and then thrown into that closet. These dreams kept occurring and sometimes she would have dreams where she was the one being strangled. Odd thing about that is, when our oldest sister slept there, she too would sometimes have dreams about being strangled and it turns out that other people who have spent the night in there alone for an extended period of time have had similar experiences. OH! Just remembered that one of our cousins, who was house sitting for us, had slept in my sister's room and she claims to have heard a child's voice in the hallway saying, "mom" even though the tv was off and she was completely alone (she also had the strangulation dream). My sister hasn't had much more from this boy so we'll move on to other experiences. Although she has heard a scratching on the window when there was nothing there.

**And yes, I realize this is extremely long but there's still more to say. Sorry, but thank you for staying with me!

We'll move to another room now--my parent's master bedroom. This seems to be where some of the more intense things began to happen. My dad's closet, which is visible from the bed, would open on it's own and the lights would turn on (I've actually witnessed this with her). There's also a mirror on the opposite side of the door that leads to the hallway and the living room. Well, one day she was just looking at her reflection in the mirror when she saw something out of the corner of her eye. It seemed to be a dark male figure that was watching her from the open door that led to the hallway. She turned around to get a better look and it peeked out at her but then ran away, seemingly to her room. This really upset and scared her. She could hardly move and felt sick to her stomach. I wasn't home when this happened but I could see the terror in her eyes when she recounted the story.

This is why I'm writing this. That fear, that terror on her face was heart breaking. I saw that fear again just last night around midnight when she came running into my room because she had heard something like a grunt right next to her ear while she was in her room. She hates that these things are happening to her. She doesn't want to sharpen her psychic abilities or communicate with these spirits or whatever they are. She just wants to be left alone. I don't know if she's a medium or just more attuned to certain energies, but I know she's not crazy. No one else in the house has had experiences quite as intense as hers but we've all felt something. Our parents constantly try to rationalize what's happening to her but I really think that's just because they don't want to believe something is terrorizing their daughter. Anyway, what can she do? I think she really should try to understand exactly what talent it is that she has but if she doesn't want to do that, is there anyway she can shield herself from such incidences? Or is this something she just has to live with?

Anyway, this is really just a glimpse into the things that have happened to her. There's been other instances, one including a woman dressed in white standing at the side of her bed, but this post has gone on far too long. So I'll leave that for another entry. But anyway, I would love to hear if you guys have any advice or similar stories to share that may give us some insight into this whole situation.

To sum it all up: Based on what you've read, is my sister a medium of some sort and what can she do to quell some of her fears?

I want to say in simple words, your house is haunted by ghosts so you need a strong ritual of your own religion, that's all

Chancc, I agree that the things your sister is experiencing are most likely a haunting of the house, and your sister is more in touch with the energy projected by those spirits. In the strangulation dreams where she is dreaming that she is being strangled instead of the little boy, it is possible that she could be a Sensitive, and is feeling what the little boy felt. The little boy in her dreams is most likely searching for or needs help with something. He is using your sister as a means to try to find what he looking for, or possibly helping him to cross over.

I know you said she does not want anything to do with them, but she does need to tell them to leave her alone. Others things that may help is burning sage as Edmund recommended, reading the Bible or Praying nightly before bed. They will feed on fear and worsen the situation so she needs to try to remain calm, which is sometimes easier said than done.

Try to research the history of your house just to see what secrets the walls may hold. Good Luck and God Bless

Apparently your sister is suffering anxiety about her future and is having difficulty coping with the demands of adolescence - which results from an over active imagination. The weird experiences others have had in your house are likely to be poltergeist phenomena resulting from the energies set up by your sister's anxiety. Poltergeist activity, although fairly rare, is a well known phenomenon associated with adolescent females.

This and the 'visitations' are, apparently, psychological phenomena, so seeking medical advice is probably the wisest first step.

Chancc... Well your sister is more in tune with all that is happening or has happened in the house... But since just about everybody has felt, seen, or dreamed a lot of the same events in the house... The obvious is that the house is haunted. You generally can quiet it down somewhat by burning some sage, then see what kind of response you get then scale it up or down from there.
