A Validation Of Hearing Voices Before I Fall Asleep

We have lived in our home since it was built in 1984. Through the years, I found that just before dozing off I would hear voices of groups of people murmuring as if in a "clan." There was one very loud man's voice that would speak over the others as if he were the leader giving commands. Sometimes it was all very loud and annoying. Once I said out loud "shut up!" and the voices stopped.

Sometimes I would hear someone whisper my name as if they were right next to me. I thought this was coming from my subconscious and expected it was just a common occurrence. I never really told anyone - didn't think much of it. It seemed to be coming from a specific area next to my bed near my bed stand.

Then, I got a job in a different city 7 years ago and my husband and I moved to a rented house for two years in the new city, but we kept our house. During that time, my sister lived in my house. Upon visiting her after we had been gone a few months I asked her how she was doing being in the house. Did she sleep OK, etc.?

(Keep in mind I NEVER told her about the voices!)

She said, that, yes, she slept very well BUT (and remarked "Don't tell anyone because they will think I am crazy.") she was hearing voices in my bedroom before she fell asleep. I acted surprised at first and asked her for more details. (What did they sound like? Did they come from any specific area of the room, etc.?) She indicated they seemed to becoming from an area next to the bed (in the same spot I had heard them coming from). She said they sounded like people mumbling and then she would hear a man talking very loudly over the others as if giving them orders. And sometimes she would hear her name being called!

I told her I had the same experience and she said we shouldn't tell anyone because they would think we were both crazy.:)

Since that experience we have moved back into our house. I have a genetic based progressive hearing loss, so I am not certain whether the voices might still be there but I cannot now hear them. Also, I once read that if you tell spirits to leave in the name of Jesus they must depart. I did this when I moved back in so that I could sleep peacefully.

It is very interesting that I just happened to google "hearing voices before I fall asleep" recently and found similar testimonies on your website.

Dorothy24, very well said. Times are indeed pushing us externally, not internally. While I don't have judgment to those externally driven people, I personally savor my own hours of quiet time. There's nothing I enjoy more than having a quiet home life, listening to the calming sounds of nature that surrounds my home, turning off the radio in my car once I get that traffic update. When we are barraged with static of every form, our inner spiritual hearing deadens. It then takes something akin to a shout for us to hear anything (again, this is why the three B's are so effective because we're in a shut down period of sorts). However, if we do the opposite of noise/static seeking, we're rather like the blind person whose other senses become much more acute. We can perceive well beyond the normal spectrum of sight, sound, and emotion. As the world continues to do very negative things around us, it's important now more than ever for me personally to make sure I get that calm, quiet reflective time into my day. And yes, we do indeed receive greater insight as to what our soul path's purpose is in this incarnation.

AnneV Thanks so much for your comment, and your article on brain wave patterns. It all makes tremendous sense. Your explanation should remove the "fear" factor others seem to first experience when they have such experiences. There is so much more... That can increase the quality of our lives that are now more than ever often filled with too much noise and distraction to keep us from reaching our innerselves. In so doing, I believe we can begin to understand what our real life's purpose is and begin to point ourselves in that direction of fulfillment.

I call this an effect of the three B's (bed, bath and bus). I wrote an article about this here:

When we lay down to go to bed, we start to transition into a different brain wave pattern which allows more subtle channels to come through (it broadens our incoming frequency range). If I am in deep meditation I can even hear radio waves, complete songs, voices, communicate with a sleeping person next to me non-verbally, and so on.

Thanks for sharing.
